Update: and he won.
Congressman Thomas Massie has always been defending liberty and taking issue with the United Nations and foreign aid. Now, days before the election, AIPAC or AIPAC-affiliated organizations are going on a spending spree attacking Massie (https://100percentfedup.com/thomas-massie-says-aipac-announces-six-figure-ad/).
Instead of promoting and defending Israel issues, this ad campaign is meant to get liberal American Jews to dump their money into AIPAC to attack a Republican while having hardly any impact, in large part because the campaign comes way too late. This campaign supposedly makes AIPAC look non-partisan but it is a smoke screen, if not a scam. Money on campaigns is best spent at the very beginning of the political campaign, not at the near end. To me, this is proof AIPAC either had too much money on hand, or did not know how best to spend it or saw this as an opportunity to appear bi-partisan when it knew bi-partisanship is not working.
I support Israel, but when it comes to American politics, I support Republicans. If you want to support candidates supporting Israel, go to the Republican Jewish Coalition (https://www.rjchq.org/) and donate to candidates through them at https://portal.rjcpac.com/ However, even the Republican Jewish Coalition has taken issue with Massie (https://www.timesofisrael.com/in-rare-move-republican-jewish-coalition-targets-a-gop-congressman-in-primary/). They are making a mistake on top of a mistake they failed to adjust to.
But back to Massie, here is what AIPAC gets wrong. The United Nations regularly votes against Israel. The hatred for Israel is deep in the United Nations (https://www.timesofisrael.com/un-condemned-israel-more-than-all-other-countries-combined-in-2022-monitor/). Well, Massie has proposed the United States leave the United Nations (https://massie.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=395094). Where were the Jewish political groups to see the opportunity to engage with Massie on this topic? Let me know if I am missing something but I suspect Jewish organizations failed to realize the opportunity.
In other words, these Jewish organizations never took seriously what conservatives were thinking, and I am all too happy to chastise them over this. These Jewish organizations should have worked with conservative groups to defund UNRWA but there was a lack of motivation or understanding to do so. There are abundance of reasons to defund UNRWA (https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/29/middleeast/israel-allegations-unwra-october-7-intl/index.html) I am very disappointed in the lost opportunities.
Here is a conundrum for Israelis to think about. Could the US support of Israel be what actually caused October 7? Could Trump’s support of Israel cause Israelis to become complacent about their own defense while emboldening Hamas? Oh, but no one in the US or Israel is even thinking of such matters but I am because I believe in contemplation. The biggest threat Israel faces is close-mindedness and the inability to engage the broader world, the failure to be more cosmopolitan in a more complex world.
The defense of Israel does not need to be fully reliant on US support but in fact, such support may be a liability if Israelis cannot embrace the common sense of a republic. This includes arming all Israelis to defend their families, their loved ones, their communities, and their wonderous nation. If you are Jewish or Israeli, you should take a look at Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership (https://jpfo.org/). You might learn something.
Anyways, these political action committees can severely scam people out of their money merely on passion. This is why I stick with the narrow economic agenda of Club for Growth. I know this will displease many but Thomas Massie, Marjorie Taylor Green, and Lauren Boebert are deserving of your support because they are right on economic issues. My support goes to those who understand prosperity economics. Oh and Boerbert left her district, which creates an opportunity for another Republican Jeff Hurd (https://jeffhurdforcolorado.com/)
And to add more to the defense of Massie, he rightly challenged the FISA laws (https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/article287545460.html) Even CNN admitted FISA has been abused (https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/23/politics/fisa-carter-page-warrants/index.html).
So, as for politics, spend your money wisely.
Is AIPAC a foreign agent or a US based PAC?
