The text came through. Someone I knew was upset about the Corporation for Public Broadcasting closing. I could tell they were watching CNN (https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/01/media/trump-cpb-corporation-public-media-shuts-down). They dropped F bombs on me and blamed Trump.
What many do not know is that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting was established in 1967, when the costs and operations of radio and television stations were expensive and involved complicated technology. Today, the average smartphone camera vastly exceeds the capabilities of a 1950 studio TV camera (https://www.perplexity.ai/search/how-has-radio-broadcasting-cha-mGrmA8a6TnyMax_lCfErmw#3).
Instead, thousands of programs have been created on the new technology and allow for streaming (https://subscribe.blazetv.com/).
Yet some still argue local program will be hurt. I doubt it. For a long time now, NPR (https://www.npr.org/) and PBS (https://www.pbs.org/) have taking donations online.
So, sign up. Pick a program. And donate. Stop whining.
