Jeremy Aspen keeps digging himself a hole. Scott Voorhees of KFAB did an interview with him (https://www.iheart.com/podcast/669-vintage-voorhees-27091316/episode/r-explains-why-hes-now-a-270471114/)
He thinks Wokism is the main thrust of Trump support, which is false, yet he sells the race issue by talking about God sending you down from Heaven and having you choose what race to be. I cringed on this because the racist question implies Black people are weak therefore it is better to be White yet well over a million Black Americans are millionaires (https://www.zippia.com/advice/millionaire-statistics/ and https://www.forbes.com/sites/korihale/2022/10/25/millionaire-status-is-on-the-rise-with-52-million-people-joining-the-club/). Race is irrelevant for those with ambition and the will to succeed.
There are other oddities in this interview which are truly annoying. He defends the idea of the US being the policeman of the world, but by leaving the Republican Party, he leaves Congressman Bacon out to dry for defending Ukraine. Bacon is right to defend Ukraine. Aspen claims Trump holds Republicans on a leash yet Congressman Tom Massie freely disagrees with Trump. At the same time, Aspen ignores China as being far more dangerous than Russia.
Aspen ignores the political campaigns of McCain and Romney and why such campaigns failed. He seems to think Kamala Harris could have won but anyone who has heard her cackle at a serious question cringed at the thought of her being president.
There are other parts which cause me to ponder. Aspen mentions his concerns about “conspiracy theory” thinking and power. People will always speculate what is going on which is why conspiracy theories become passion topics of interest. These theories only become a problem when paranoia and fear overrun skeptical thinking. Theories have gaps and holes in logic but others turn out to be true. Yet, if the discussion is the man-made climate change theory, somehow Aspen has no problem in believing such theory in spite of various flaws.
In part, the reason Trump gained momentum is his detractors blatantly lied. Many people would hear some sound-bite of Trump saying something horrible, but the skeptics, such as me, ended up looking up the Trump speeches to find the context of what was supposedly said. Trump is a brilliant extemporaneous speaker and made long two hour speeches and after watching such speeches, Trump’s appeal grew. This is why Trump keeps winning people over. It is why two former Democrat presidential candidates now serve in his administration. They are Tulsi Gabbard and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
But what is most irritating is Aspen really is unsuited for politics. The reason politics exist is it is a peaceful substitute for war. If you do not accept this, you are not going to be able to win elections or impact policies. Yes, we all love decency and kindness but often it is not winning formula in politics.
