Bleeding Russia
Trump’s True Strategy?
The Russia-Ukraine War continues, and few understand why. Congressman Bacon and former State Senator Tom Brewer strongly advocate support for Ukraine. However, I suspect they do not see the broader strategy.
The media go with their takes, and you can find dozens of viewpoints on YouTube or social media. Yet none understand the strategy of: if your enemy bleeds, let them bleed, and encourage them to bleed more. There are historical advocates of this strategy, but none worthy of my citation, largely because it is the advocacy of a deadly meat grinder in a war of attrition.
With the Russia-Ukraine war, the US strategy is to let Russia tie itself down to such a war, which then prevents Russia from acting on the global stage, as they cannot fathom a loss to Ukraine. This is why Syria has a new government, and so soon may Cuba.
In addition, a war of attrition breeds innovation. Everyone has seen this with Ukraine’s use of drone technology which it is now sharing with allies. This matters to the US military as they are well aware of how evolving technology can rapidly outflank and undermine current military standards.
The game will play out and Ukraine will come out on top and Russia will be demoralized and defeated. Russia may not say anything but their defeat will be self-evident when no troops show up to confront Ukraine.
