A parent has but one responsibility to a child and they should make it abundantly clear to the child. The child must be made into a fully functional adult, understanding the importance of a work ethic, how to read, how to manage time, how to manage money, and how to care about people. But many parents and institutions fail in this mission.
Unfortunately, child neglect cannot be sensationalized to the degree sexual abuse is. Child neglect is one of the most significant co-factors to child sexual abuse. A child will not only accept molestation but participate in their own debauchery for the sake of having attention.
A child can be forgiven for such mistakes but institutions should not. Here is how insidious child neglect is. The Omaha Public School District has decided to provide free school lunches to all children regardless of income. Sounds wonderful, right? Until you realize, the greatest act of love a parent can provide to a child is to make lunch for them. A parent can add a bit more, by merely putting a note in the lunch: “I love you. Don’t let anything drag you down.” Yet, the public schools encourage the exact opposite.
Now take a look at the most basic function we do on the internet: reading. You would expect educational institutions to address this forthright but dyslexia is often ignored. This is why I support Clarice Jackson. She knew her adopted daughter suffered from dyslexia and the educational system was ignoring it. See the write up of her at link below:

Ms. Jackson is smart. She gets it. She understands the fight. She wants a better future for all and she knows such future depends on how we treat children. She has demonstrated this in her own actions as she is part of Boon in addressing the reading crisis, a crisis which is the result of neglect. Read more at link below:
