At times, I think Bacon goes too far to accommodate the left and at other times, misses opportunities to support conservative legislation. He can do better on some economic issues. However, Bacon is well aware of Pelosi’s strategy. No outrageous progressive legislation can get passed in the divided US Senate at this time, so much of the leftist nonsense passed by the House will die in the Senate. This is why conservatives need to push for a Republican majority in the Senate (https://www.clubforgrowth.org/elections/pac-endorsed-candidates/ and
https://www.senateconservatives.com/#candidates).
Pelosi is pushing legislation designed to split up Republicans to help Democrat candidates. The Respect for Marriage Act is but one example. While the Act defends same-sex marriage, it also defends interracial marriage (https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/8404/text) So if Bacon did not vote for it, people would end up accusing him of being racist. At the same time, the legislation was completely pointless and only existed for Democrat political purposes. There are more traps like this ahead and conservatives need to brace for them.
Pelosi’s strategy ends up eating away at other issues. I am still concerned about election integrity and the abusive prosecution of January 6 attendees. Look Ahead America has revealed over 23,000 voters in Racine, Wisconsin shared the same phone number (https://lookaheadamerica.org/racinepr/) Some say people should get over the 2020 election, but the left clearly is not. Leftists extremists abused the US postal mail to smear the Look Forward America organization by spoofing the organization’s address to send hate-filled letters (https://lookaheadamerica.org/hatemail/). Keep in mind, abuse of the US Postal Service is a Federal offense.
At the same time, I am still worried about COVID restrictions. Rebuild NH of New Hampshire has been on a roll in passing excellent protections of individual freedom. They successively passed 10 pieces of important legislation (https://rebuildnh.com/rebuildnh-celebrates-as-10-supported-bills-become-law/). Nebraska needs more leadership on this issue.
Bacon would probably suggest both issues are state issues. But, this leads to another problem. What is Jim Pillen saying about COVID restrictions? Not much. What is Bob Evnan doing about drop boxes? As far as I can tell, nothing.
