Many wonder why I keep bringing up the Civil War in discussion, a war which was actually a military invasion. In part, because most do not understand the economics of the time such as mercantilism and Henry Clay’s advocacy. Also, Congressman Bacon supported renaming military bases which had the name of Confederate veterans (https://www.npr.org/2020/06/11/875056309/congress-heads-toward-clash-with-trump-over-removal-of-confederate-symbols). He routinely expresses pride in passing such legislation and I keep taking issue with him much to his angst.
Because of the legislation, the Reconciliation Monument in Arlington cemetery was removed. This set off firestorm over how Americans treat history. A group called Defend Arlington (DefendArlington.org also as https://siegels1.wixsite.com/arlington) was formed to restore the monument. They have issued long documentation in defense of the Monument (https://online.flippingbook.com/view/914200920/).
The Abbeville Institute video below explains the whole history of the monument.
Yet this weekend, the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861–1865 in convention (https://www.duvcw.org/) supported a resolution in support of the Monument:
RESOLUTION*
Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861–1865
National Convention, August 2, 2025
IN SUPPORT OF THE PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION OF THE RECONCILIATION MEMORIAL AND OTHER UNION CIVIL WAR MONUMENTS
WHEREAS, the Reconciliation Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, proposed by President William McKinley—a Union veteran of the Civil War—was created to commemorate national reconciliation after the war and stood as a symbol of peace, healing, and unity among Americans; and
WHEREAS, this unique memorial, the only Civil War monument erected in Arlington National Cemetery, was supported by multiple U.S. Presidents and prominent Union veterans, including the Grand Army of the Republic, who viewed its creation as a testament to the enduring strength of the Union and the spirit of reunion; and
WHEREAS, many Union Civil War monuments and memorials across the country were erected with the participation and approval of veterans’ organizations and serve as vital educational and commemorative landmarks, preserving the legacy of those who fought to save the nation; and
WHEREAS, some Union memorials, as well as the Reconciliation Memorial of Section 16, have in recent years suffered from neglect, damage, removal, or controversy, threatening the memory of the men they honor and the messages of unity and sacrifice they represent; and
WHEREAS, the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861–1865, were founded to honor the memory of Union soldiers and perpetuate the history of their sacrifices for the preservation of the United States; and
WHEREAS, the preservation and respectful restoration of Civil War memorials aligns with the mission of the DUVCW to educate the public, protect historical heritage, and honor our ancestors’ service and that of the Grand Army of the Republic which granted us the privilege of being an Allied Order;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861–1865, in National Convention assembled, call upon all relevant public and private institutions—including national, state, and local governments—to support the restoration and respectful return of the Reconciliation Memorial to Arlington National Cemetery; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861–1865, encourage the preservation, protection, and if needed, the restoration and rededication of all Union Civil War memorials throughout the United States that have been damaged, removed, or are at risk of being lost; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this resolution be distributed to national and state leaders, historic preservation bodies, patriotic societies, and the public to raise awareness and promote the safeguarding of these lasting symbols of unity, sacrifice, and national heritage.

Bacon has been unimpressing me with the staggering weight of his lack of intellect for a while now.
I too support restoring the monument and preventing politicos like Bacon from messing with any other monuments!
