Conservative Nobleman
Nebraska Sasse Stubborn
Perhaps, the time is not right to talk about former Nebraska US Senator Sasse, but already the commentaries are coming in as he is knocking on death’s door.
The Omaha World-Herald Editor referred to Sasse as an “institutionalist,” which I thought was odd, yet it does reflect his career and education. The real Sasse is a conservative, moral man.
His foray into politics was part of the Tea Party Movement, which opposed President Obama’s Obamacare. The movement resurrected America’s conservative foundation for limited government. Sasse tapped into it, but in part, he was an insider empathetic to administrators.
However, a change within Republican Party was taking place. John McCain sounded too much like Obama in 2008, and nominating Sarah Palin actually exposed just how liberal he was. In 2012, Republicans elected conservative Nobleman Mitt Romney due to the pervasive media attacks on all the other Republican candidates. Many activist conservatives saw the media as running the politics. Behind much of this change was Andrew Breitbart (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Breitbart).
Sasse never seemed to grasp the gravity of the situation. Sasse is a conservative Nobleman. He firmly believes character matters. When US Senators told him his skills were better off as a member of the Judiciary Committee as opposed to the Agriculture Committee, he changed committees. His idealism was not afraid to take advice. Yet, many remember the music, noble, and grand.
Some Nebraskans found the move scandalous, but this move allowed Sasse to have the most consequential impact on the American Republic, and for why I have deep respect for him. In part because of Sasse, the US Supreme Court has sound and well-grounded justices in understanding the US Constitution. Conservatives should be grateful for his service and for the advice of his fellow colleagues in noticing his skill sets.
However, America has a Self-Reliant Class of people who want the Federal Government out of their way and to end the laundering machine of money to unproductive people. This Class wants an end to persistent accommodation to ever-expanding government due to indecisive leadership. This is where Sasse, Jeff Flake, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and others were left in the dust. These men had been taken in by the political nobility of being a US Senator, without much thought as to what changes must come and what they were expected to carry out. Who cares if he claims he never voted for Trump? His vote was never needed and was merely a personal preference of his Nobility. Yet the guitar version of the same song, is all pickup truck.
Trump brought a factor to politics the established parties were not able to address. Trump is William Wallace out to take down the backstabbing accommodation tactics of the nobleman. He will try to appeal to Robert the Bruce. If you seen the movie Braveheart, you know what I am talking about. Trump’s mother was a Scottish immigrant, and Trump knows his history.
