I have argued about Man-Made Climate Change Theory for far way too long. The Theory is nonsense but in arguing and debating the subject, I run into insurmountable obstacles. Worse is when local utilities such as OPPD (https://www.oppdcommunityconnect.com/pathways-to-decarbonization-community) and MUD (https://www.mudomaha.com/our-company/financials on p13 2021 annual report) start falling for this nonsense.
First, there are the doomsayer believers whose dogma cannot be questioned. You can argue with such a person and you end up running in circles. Their fanatic passion and zealotry will drive you insane and beg you to change the topic of conversation. Reject their viewpoint and they will call you a “denier”. I upset them by proudly saying I am a climate change atheist! They simply cannot give up on the Theory because it gives them purpose and meaning. The Theory is a secular replacement for God. However, science is not about belief but skepticism.
Second obstacle is people’s innate fear of science which causes them to embrace authority figures who merely appear to have the facts. Real science makes people feel insignificant, so people tend to leave the work to others who may exploit their own authority for other purposes. This has led authorities, such as college professors, to write hundreds of pages supposedly supporting the Theory yet they make unsubstantiated claims, baseless assumptions, and false attributions of cause and effect.
Science is brutal. For example, a woman dies at the age of 80. Her family, and friends will miss her greatly. But not Planet Earth. If the Earth had a conscience, from the perspective of science, it would consider her a mere speck of dust occupying an insignificant amount of time for the Earth is 4,500,000,000 years old. The Earth does not love her and in fact had the ability to kill her when she was alive and will happily eat away at her corpse. Real science makes us feel real small and insignificant.
I want to give you an easy way to defeat the Theory. Let us start with the most basic and simple graph: the increase in carbon in the atmosphere.
This graph and others like it have caused alarm worldwide yet a few simple questions should cause many to pause to think. When confronted by such graphs, you need to look at what it is not telling and not showing you. Merely ask these questions:
1) How much carbon should be in the atmosphere?
2) How do you determine there is “too much” carbon and on what basis? (Not 1800 or 2022!)
3) If carbon is to be reduced, by how much?
The Believers of the Theory can't answer these questions with any credibility. Why bother doing anything if these questions cannot be answered? Yet they point to the chart as if 1800 was the perfect year for carbon without any objective measure as to why.
There are other problems as well. Plants love carbon. A third of the landmass of Earth is largely devoid of plant life. An argument can be made stating the Earth is highly deficient in carbon and more is needed to promote plant growth. Plants, animals and insects were much larger and covered more of the Earth in the Earth’s past when there was much more carbon. You can learn more about such facts from the CO2 Coalition at https://co2coalition.org/ or the Climate Depot at https://www.climatedepot.com/ Steve Milloy of https://junkscience.com/ also takes up the issue often.
Carbon and methane are both “greenhouse gases” but in spite of their potential to provide warmth, they will never come close to competing with the number one greenhouse gas on Earth: water vapor. Three-fourths of Earth is covered in water, chemically known as H20. Water comes in solid ice, liquid water and as vapor and we see it daily. It is the perfect regulator of the climate. If the Earth gets too warm, the water evaporates creating clouds and reducing sun exposure. As the Earth cools, the vapor turns to solid water and drops out of the sky, allowing the sun to soon shine again. Of course, some point out just how dangerous H20, known as di-hydrogen monoxide, actually is. (The fun of satire! http://www.dhmo.org/)
Yet, people want to sell us on ethanol, windmills and solar energy so the Theory is pushed again and again. Don’t buy into it. No, the polar bears are not going extinct and no, the oceans are not becoming acidic. But if you do fall for the Theory, maybe you should be putting masks on cows. https://notthebee.com/article/prince-charles-thinks-we-should-mask-the-cows-for-climate-change-seriously or join Extinction Rebellion at https://rebellion.global/ But if you tell me the sky is falling, I will tell you it is just rain.
