Update: Erin Feichtinger’s email address has been corrected to copy correctly.
Also, the County has now released updated information at https://www.douglascountyclerk.org/joint-public-hearing-information
And the news is now covering it. https://www.ketv.com/article/douglas-county-residents-incorrect-real-estate-notices/41248272
So Douglas County informed the public of proposed tax increases. However, the mailing addresses do not match the parcel mentioned on the other side. Some people are upset but the parcel information provided is already available to the public.
However, the worst part is trying to contact Metro Community College (MCC) which is listed on the form. The number provided is not in working order.
Going to the MCC website (http://www.mccneb.edu/), you are forced to go through a scavenger hunt to find the Board of Directors. Notice there is no obviously listing for the Board.
But it gets worse. Once you reach the Board page (http://www.mccneb.edu/About-MCC-Nebraska/About-MCC/Board-of-Governors), many on the Board have no contact information. These are elected officials. Perhaps MCC should have a contact form with a drop-down box for selected Board members. But no, there is just one party email address and a voice mailbox for the whole Board.
Oh, and if you click on the email address of Erin Feichtinger, it fills in with Brad Ashby’s email address.
The Board has the power to raise property taxes and tuitions. They should be held accountable and easily accessible to the public, including property taxpayers.
