Update 2:
Update: https://thefederalist.com/2023/05/16/the-durham-report-leaves-no-doubt-the-fbi-is-a-mortal-threat-to-democracy/
The former FBI agent had not spoken more than a few minutes when I became disappointed and recalcitrant in the ears. There was just no way to pierce his veneer of ideology. Law enforcement should be about responding to citizen complaints about crime and enforcing basic laws, not entrapping them, unjustified surveillance, crime manufacturing, or taking up arms against citizens, yet the FBI does all of these things.
The FBI has much prestige and has done good law enforcement work, but the agency plays another role which is not well understood: domestic spying, espionage, and infiltration. In addition, it is a paramilitary organization loyal to the Deep State. The FBI has a history of infamy. For example, the FBI spied on Martin Luther King for years and taped his conversations, and now uses such material to defame him (https://www.businessinsider.com/fbi-tapes-allege-mlk-watched-rape-2019-5). But it does not end there.
The Waco Massacre was the result of the FBI using tanks (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waco_siege) Both tanks and helicopters were used. You would think the FBI would have learned their lesson but such military equipment is still being used (https://nypost.com/2021/01/13/photos-show-armed-fbi-tank-rolling-down-queens-street/). For full details of how the FBI and ATF slaughtered men, women, and children, read The Davidian Massacre by Carol Moore (https://archive.org/details/davidianmassacre0000moor or https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/davidian-massacre-disturbing-questions-about-waco-which-must-be-answered_carol-moore/463159/).
The FBI efforts to infiltrate organizations has nothing to do with law enforcement but is merely an effort to disrupt such targeted organizations to cause the members to turn on each to obtain political gain for government officials. In doing so, the FBI compels the most pathetic people to lie against other members. The FBI pays informants for information which taints the information received. This causes problems at trial (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/proud-boys-trial-defense-witness-paid-fbi-informant/). The attack on the Proud Boys is truly pathetic.
The FBI is everywhere including Nebraska. The allegations against former Congress Fortenberry are absurd (https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/19/politics/jeff-fortenberry-indictment/index.html). So he took money he should not have received. Fine, let him donate the same amount of money to the Public Debt and let him be free. Nope, the FBI does not want this. Instead, Fortenberry is charged with the bogus crime of “lying to the FBI”. Sorry, but lying to the FBI should not be a crime yet prosecutors simply have no sense on how stupid such charges are. Bring forward the charges of rape, robbery, murder, and fraud but spare everyone the stupidity of alleging a lie. This casts shadows over how the FBI took action against a sitting Omaha City Council member (https://thereader.com/2023/04/21/fbi-indicts-omaha-city-councilman-vinny-palermo-former-omaha-police-officers/).
Oh, and it does not end there. Hate conspiracy theorists? The FBI loves conspiracy theories and they created a whopper of one regarding the Oathkeepers (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/oath-keepers-trial-weapons-arsenal/). Just
because the Oathkeepers prepared for any and all scenarios, they are portrayed as “insurrectionists”. It is absurd. Nevermind, James Madison, the declared father of the Constitution and advocate for the Bill of rights, stated crimes of sedition violated freedom of speech (https://mtsu.edu/first-amendment/article/1220/james-madison).
Many people will dismiss these matters as just politics and having little to do with the average person, but this is not so. Decades ago, an Omaha medical researcher received a Federal grant of thousands of dollars for a research project. The FBI visited his wife in her Dundee home and asked questions about another co-worker her husband worked with. Her intelligence prevailed and she stated, “You are not investigating him, you are investigating my husband”. Having stated such, the interview abruptly came to an end and the FBI left. This is how spooky the FBI is.
There is no way to track their unauthorized surveillance of citizens or to what extent it goes. They have powerful tools in their hands and can use tools without much discretion. The average citizen is under surveillance by the FBI. Retractions of statements about Catholics do not change how the FBI operates. Catholics are right to be alarmed (https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/253679/us-bishops-fbi-document-targeting-catholics-is-religious-profiling). When will people wake up to what the FBI does?
The charges against Edward Snowden should be dropped. He exposed the surveillance state but there is no such forgiveness from authoritarians. They even take issue with him publishing a book (https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/united-states-obtains-final-judgment-and-permanent-injunction-against-edward-snowden). By the way, you can still get his book (https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/permanent-record_arthur-king/22218681/#edition=23713223&idiq=36364977).
For these reasons, the FBI should be abolished no matter the consequences. If a new agency needs to be created to replace it, so be it, but the current institution is plagued by history and the persistence of a lack of trust.
Thank you for documenting with footnotes the examples you used to illustrate a statement of incorrect and bullying tactics.
