Update 2: Trump sells items on the “no taxes on tips” (https://secure.winred.com/trump-national-committee-jfc/storefront/vote-trump-for-no-tax-on-tips-decals-set-of-50/details)
Update: Congressman Bacon has supported legislation to remove taxes on tips (https://bacon.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=1455).
Rick Galusha has been an assistant professor at Bellevue University for some time. He runs his own site (https://www.rickgalusha.com/about-me) and he formed the Omaha Free Speech Society which really does not do much. He has also known three Congressmen.
So when he wrote his latest World-Herald article, I took interest (https://omaha.com/eedition/sunrise/articles/we-must-be-thoughtful-as-we-navigate-our-vocabulary-of-ideas/article_ed56321f-ef18-5673-9d69-80ee2db44af9.html). He does make a point of how people are intolerant over mere use of words, but the whole article is plagued by “old man syndrome” and is over-reliant on academic exposure, as well as too much national television “news”. Why quote David Bowie and not Bob Dylan? Are we talking politics or music?
But this part angered me:
Absolute nonsense. Does he have any recollection of the Clinton administration? Did he forget the Bush Wars? Did he forget how Black Americans voted for Obama, only to discover he was not improving their living conditions? Do you want to talk about what the Democrat Party did to the likes of Jesse Jackson (Senator Paul Simon delegates) and Bernie Sanders (Super delegates) when they ran for president? As for “insurrectionist” elections, does he know who Rutherford B. Hayes became president (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutherford_B._Hayes)?
Trump is, basically, an old fashion conservative Democrat more in line with Presidents Clinton, Kennedy, and Truman. Under President Obama, progressives effectively took over the Democrat Party. This is why they needed to take down the Confederate monuments as the Confederates were all Democrats. The Democrat Party had been gutted leaving many without a voice, especially blue-collar workers. Trump stepped in, gave voice to the voiceless, and was elected.
But Galusha has fallen for the persistent fearmongering of left-leaning television news programs who no longer have the staff to do actual research. Perhaps he is not aware of the extent of the fearmongering plaguing leftist politics. The fearmongering is so easy to promote on television to passive viewers to generate ratings and ad revenue. The end result is the fear of Covid ended up being more destructive than Covid itself (https://committeetounleashprosperity.com/hotlines/ctup-covid-lessons-learned-study-is-everywhere/).
As for Trump, the leftists just keep on hating on him and “MAGA Republicans”. At times, I am not certain what Trump is talking about but before attacking him, I have to realize he has made a point of listening to others and is giving them his voice. This is why, as a billionaire, Trump’s call to end the taxing tips rings with authenticity and empathy like no other politician has ever delivered before. Someone should ask Congressman Bacon if he would introduce such legislation or support it. Others claim Trump’s tariff advocacy will cause a trade-war but others disagree (https://committeetounleashprosperity.com/hotlines/no-trump-will-not-cause-a-trade-war/).
As for all the over-the-top hyperbolic rhetoric, the Omaha World-Herald has made a good change in policy for the sake of fostering civil discussion, and being transparent about it. Jeremy Aspen made the case abundantly clear (https://omaha.com/opinion/column/midlands-voices-when-we-talk-about-hitler-and-fascism-lets-be-accurate-not-flippant/article_160fa094-4907-11ef-bcb1-a7293ddbc52e.html). 13 writers had flippantly mentioned Hitler and the Omaha World-Herald had to decide if this fostered civil discussion or mangle it. Aspen made the case abundantly clear and successively replicated my long-standing accusation against the left for such defamation.
Aspen is precisely right. But how do we get to the truth without discussion, reflection, contemplation, and research? The World-Herald used to have daily Public Pulse letters, but no longer. Unfortunately, local reporting does not matter as much as “copying and pasting” Associated Press articles which dominate all papers without much scrutiny.
The 2020 election casts a long shadow over 2024. There was no “widespread voter fraud”, but just enough fraud to throw an election, and the result was mayhem and a President with dementia. There were thousands of affidavits testifying to voter fraud but no evidentiary hearings were ever held. In 2024, after an incumbent President wins all his primaries, suddenly he is deposed as a candidate. Another man is shot and rebounds to say “Fight! Fight Fight!”. Americans must take the time to reflect on these matters.
I cannot predict the future. However, if one person brings lighter fluid, and another brings wood, and yet another brings kindling and another a match: why do you keep telling me there is not going to be a fire? Honest observation and discussion is a necessity unless we want to set our own homes on fire, let alone help others burn our homes down.
So just how is Harris business as usual? She support gun confiscation, high taxes, more money so more people can be caged on her plantation ( taking after her families past with slavery) . Demonizing everyone that is not a Marxist. And just what is this about Trump being an authoritarian?
Galusha is using words that he has no idea what the meanings are. One should expect more from a professor, but in todays world they are some of the most intellectually vacant people around. Most crack heads would know what those words mean and would associate Harris with them
