One of the reasons to be on X is so many politicians are on there. However, Nebraska local news media fail to cover the extreme statements local elected officials are making. If you merely follow Nebraska State Senator Megan Hunt @NebraskaMegan you really can become angry with what her actual viewpoints are. Here is her lastest post about Trump speaking at Madison Square Gardens in New York.
Hunt does not understand people like me, whose father fought against NAZIs, was injured, and received a Purple heart. She undermines my father, my family and history. She is accusing a large portion of Americans being NAZIs and in doing so, she is defaming many, many Americans.
But it gets worse. Below, she still is attacking U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement over immigration control while the United States is suffering extreme border crisis.
To make matters worse, she is antagonistic towards Israel even after the horrendous massacres of October 7, is reposting Rashida Tlaib postings.
But back to my father, he was part of the 69th Division which met the Russians at the Elbe River, but he did not make it. He was injured by a German in a half-track. The bullet hit a rock and ricocheted and hit my father in the leg. His leg did not heal right and doctors tried to re-break his leg to fix it but failed. For the rest of his life, he limped. You would not notice until he walked up a flight of stairs in his Dundee home.
Walking up wooden stairs for most people sounds like “plump, plump, plump, plump, plump” but my father’s effort up the stairs was distinct, “plump……, THUMP, ……. plump,…. THUMP…. plump,…. THUMP”. These sounds are installed in my earliest childhood memories. Only later would I fully understand his sacrifices for God and Country.
In honor of my father and our ancestors during the Revolutionary War and to counter Hunt’s hatred, I call upon you to donate to the Wreaths Across America and support the Omaha Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. If you cannot donate, you can volunteer, and if neither, after December 14, take family and friends to the Omaha National Cemetery at 144th and Schram Road and see the beauty of the work of those who honor the dead of those who sacrificed for the United States of America.

Andrew, my heart goes out to you. Megan Hunt has absolutely no frame of reference when it comes to the suffering of those who served our country so nobly in World War II—your father being one of them!
Megan Hunt clearly doesn't care who she offends with her rhetoric, or how unreasonable or evil (or just plain wrong) her words are.
There is a passage from Jeremiah 31:27-30, especially verse 29, that I am reminded of by aggravating interactions like this and the ones I have had lately with someone close to me who is unfortunately inclined to react in similar ways to Megan:
29 In those days they shall no longer say:
“‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,
and the children's teeth are set on edge.’..."
It has become the in-thing for kids to reject and repudiate everything their parents tried to teach them, and to treat them and all older generations with contempt. I could say far too much about the grief and shame that parents feel when their children so thoroughly engage in rebellion--as by all accounts Megan has done and is doing. (she came from a conservative Christian family).
They can make all kinds of excuses for that, but in the end, we are each responsible for our own actions.
