If you have been listening intently to the right/debate, some have expressed concern of some conservatives and took issue with them being “Woke Right” which is defined as “The “woke right” refers to a right-wing movement or tendency that adopts some of the tactics, worldview, and language typical of what is commonly called “woke” on the left, but applies them in support of conservative or right-wing values.” There are lengthy articles on this (https://newdiscourses.com/2025/07/a-beginners-guide-to-the-woke-right/).
But this is all a mirage. Go back to the Republican Presidential primaries which made Mitt Romney a Presidential candidate in 2012. The news media so bad mouthed all the other candidates, and Republicans voters were cowed into support the nicest candidate: Romney. And, nice guys finish last. Progressive Obama won and a new template had been put in place. With Romney’s defeat, nearly all the strategies Republicans had used were thrown out the window, because Republicans wanted a clear victory over the expanding Federal Government.
Very conservative Republicans simply asked, why can’t we use the tactics Democrats do? The establishment Republicans kept saying ”We can’t do that because Democrats will call us NAZIs” or ”We can’t do that cause Democrats won’t let us” or “the news media will defame us and drive us out of office”. What good are conservative ideas if you are not willing use the tactics the other side is using?
In enters Donald J. Trump, who has thrown out so many norms of politics. No matter how much you hate him, you end up having to admire him for what he has accomplished. I lost respect for all the critics of Trump. They complain without looking at all the details. Once people know the details, it is clear Trump has a methodical, strategical, and tactical plans to deliver results. He may fail, but unlike past presidents, he is putting in his full effort.
Idealists rightly want free trade, but in a world lacking free trade, how do you encourage free trade? Trump thinks it comes from doing deals. Trump evaluates the situation for what it is, instead of presume an idealistic idea when it is failing.
Yet, the latest round of “woke right” revolves around Jimmy Kimmel and his comments about Charlie Kirk. Conservatives mounted an effort to cancel him within the bounds of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). And Americans, rightly loving freedom of speech, came to Kimmel’s defense. Some may think this was a lost for conservatives, but instead it turned out to be a win-win scenario as now everyone can see the double standards: freedom of speech for the left, but not for the right. Question remains, why does the FCC continue to exist in its current format?
Also, for many Americans, we remember how government closed the churches. Did the critics factor this into their judgement?
Very well said and I love the attached video.
