When the Catholic Church expanded, it absorbed many cultures and traditions, and eventually, they turned the Roman Empire into the Holy Roman Empire. With Protestantism, the trend still continued with the emergence of the British Empire. All driven by one book, the Holy Bible. Missionaries from Spain and other European nations traveled the world over, spreading the word of Jesus, salvation, mercy, and freedom. And if nothing else, the importance of literacy and education.
Much of the American educational systems ignore what the British, the Spanish, the Irish, the French, and the Catholic Church did to spread civilization and a pathway for a better life for all by fostering Jesus. It is so easy to dismiss.
Yet, here was Charles Kirk going to college campuses, debating current topics. I really did not spend time listening to him. Many have dismissed him as a political commentator, but he was far more. He was a Christian evangelist, courageously defending his faith while defending freedom in a secular world.
In England, Tommy Robinson had organized a rally for free speech and to honor Charlie Kirk. Elon Musk, a man born in South Africa and now a US citizen, spoke.
At the same time, a young Black American man engaged in debunking myths and lies about Charlie Kirk.
Meanwhile, people of South Korea, many Christian, are saying, “We are Charlie Kirk”.
And it does not end there. The Maori people of New Zealand showed up in England for the free speech event to perform their famous Maka dance for the sake of freedom of speech.
And in the land down under, Australia, the vigils are being done.
Charlie Kirk was also held true to his faith and secular in his stance about gay people:
COVID shut the world down and people engaged the internet for relief. In doing so, they found Kirk and now, through the internet and over the entire world, people have access to his words and his words matter. His death is not a merely local phenomena of a low grade crime, but an international tragedy with many raminfications. Kirk touch so many lives and we have yet to come to terms with his death.
