Just an update, two candidates are now running against Hunt.
State Senator Hunt is known for her extreme positions. She supports COVID vaccine mandates. Yes, we mandate vaccinations for children because children cannot make decisions for themselves. Adults are different. A 29 year old pregnant woman should not be forced to take the vaccine, for if she lost the child, she would always take issue with the vaccine, no matter what science says. Hunt does not care.
Hunt also threatened to stop Legislative Bill 939 which would reduce the top income tax bracket of 6.84% to 5.84%. This tax of 6.84 percent applies to individual workers making a mere $32.210 a year. You would think Democrats would grow a brain on this issue but clearly not. Democrats have rejected a tax cut to the middle class! Her advocacy encourages people to leave the City.
Yet, no Democrat, Republican or Libertarian has yet to step forward to challenge Hunt. I am told Hunt’s district is 25 points in favor of Democrats, but this fails to address just how bad Hunt is in a nonpartisan race. The result is urban rot as no new innovative ideas can surface and citizens become complacent to the damages to their communities. Citizens must challenge her at all levels right now, not later.
Too often political operatives look for open doors and easy wins, but a political party or political movement must have a persistent strategy to get people to change political parties, embrace freedom and attend events. Yes, it can be expensive but a long term strategy and unrelenting persistence will pay off and break down political walls. On the first campaign, maybe only 20 people change political parties and on the second 15 more and the third only 10, but suddently it can turn into 10,000. Persistence does pay off eventually.
Half the reason people are in a political party is because their parents were. When you talk them through that history, they are more likely to change, so why are there not more political operatives doing this? The consultants think it is a waste of time, but Trump proved them wrong. Issues do matter and Hunt is on the wrong side of the issues.
I contacted the Benson Neighborhood Association in an attempt to get them to address the issue but they did not. Benson can easily be boycotted for supporting an extremist like Hunt. Depending how things go, I will initiate a boycott of Benson for hyper-partisanship. I also contacted Inner 10, a shooting range, to express my concerns.
Right now, there is not much which can be done, but you who have read this far, you can take action as Hunt is responsive to criticism. You can email her at mhunt@leg.ne.gov or call her Unicameral office at (402) 471-2722 and tell here what you think of her policy positions. Also, feel free to drop my name.
You can also contact the Benson Neighborhood Association at bensonneighborhoodassociation@gmail.com and encourage them to take Hunt on regarding her extreme positions.
