If you have not voted yet, I highly encourage you to consider voting early in person as voter turnout is resulting in long lines. This is particularly true in Nebraska where several initiatives are on the ballot. Also, get an X.com account and get on X. Much news is now appearing there.
Denny Hartford of Vital Signs Ministries is telling Nebraskans to vote for ballot initiative 434, the Protect Women and Children act (https://vitalsignsblog.blogspot.com/2024/10/is-yes-vote-for-434-pro-abortion.html). The Vital Signs Ministries has been doing pro-life work and sidewalk counseling for decades. He is right. Vote for 434.
Douglas County Election Commissioner Brian Kruse was on KMTV 3 News and explained the processing of ballots (https://www.3newsnow.com/central-omaha/inside-look-how-douglas-county-ensures-a-safe-and-secure-election-process). This sort of public presentation is the transparency we need. Give Kruse credit where credit is due.
Meanwhile, Matt Johnson of RightCheer.com reports on Congressman Don Bacon’s campaign and his town hall with former generals (https://rightcheer.com/don-bacon-and-fellow-former-generals-make-closing-argument-as-campaign-draws-to-a-close/). Bacon is right to stress his military and foreign policy stances, but the opposing Democrat candidate Vargas is deceptively hitting back on economic issues.
Part of me wants to see marijuana legalized but strictly regulated. However, the continuing drug problems, particularly overdoses have convinced me to vote against the marijuana initiatives. Earlier this year, the Nebraska Examiner did a story on the substantial amount of drug overdoses in the State (https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2024/01/31/armed-with-new-ne-law-and-federal-grant-douglas-county-team-steps-up-attack-on-drug-overdoses/). Regulation is needed but without enforcement, people are endangered. Why deepen the crisis with legalization?
The Blue Dot has captured the imaginations of many. Yet, seeing a blue dot yard sign without any other signs or flags is just weird. (Oops! I suppose Walz has the word a registered trademark https://apnews.com/article/kamala-walz-vp-weird-trump-gen-z-f9d718890c3ca907f42dba5934075382).
The progressive bi-coastal regions of the country have latched on to this sense of a Nebraska streak of independence (https://www.forbes.com/sites/rdaniel-foster/2024/10/26/the-design-strategy-behind-omahas-blue-dot-yard-sign-craze/). But the blue dot signs without anything else suggest a silent boycott of the Democrat Party by Democrats or perhaps by independents who merely oppose winner-take-all.
