Update: Nebraska Examiner (https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/10/03/24-legislative-candidates-pledge-to-end-secret-votes-for-committee-chairs/) is reporting several other State Senators have signed on to the Nebraska First transparency pledge.
The Nebraska First PAC has been pushing a pledge for Nebraska Senators and Senate candidates to pledge to restore transparency in the selection of Unicameral Committee Chairs (https://www.nebraskafirst.net and https://www.facebook.com/NebraskaFirstPAC/). One of the last remaining reporters of the Omaha World Herald provides a bit of the details about the issue at https://omaha.com/news/state-and-regional/govt-and-politics/fate-of-secret-ballot-in-nebraska-legislature-uncertain/article_4b2fd8e4-40f7-11ed-bb5e-7737c2343c7b.html
However, I have been advised, the latest updated list is on their Facebook, which forces me to go to the Evil Empire of Zuckerberg! Anyhow, here is the list:
The good people who made the pledge for transparency are Christy Armendariz, Marilyn Asher, Christian Mirch, Kathleen Kauth, and Merve Riepe and many more.
Predictably, many also join the Dark side of Transparency, such as Machela Cavanaugh, Megan Hunt, Danielle Conrad, Wendy DeBoer, and Michael Young.
Sadly, in Legislative Districts 20, 22 and 46, both candidates oppose transparency.
Yes, Stu Dornan did not sign the pledge. Why? I do not know. You can try finding out by contacting him at https://votestudornan.com/contact/
