Elections are contentious but before I get into candidates, let us talk about ballot harvesting.
Mail-in ballots, absentee ballots and drop boxes make it so easy to do ballot harvesting. Nope, not asking you to do that, but Douglas County has over a dozen drop boxes listed at link below:
https://www.votedouglascounty.com/early_voting.aspx#dropboxes
So, print or type on a piece of paper these words: “Are you certain ballot harvesting is not taking place?” or “How secure is this drop box?” Stick the paper with the message into a brown envelope about the size of 9 inches by 12 or so and seal it up and drop it in a drop box. You can do it once or a dozen times to drive the point home and how idiotic the idea is.
Oh, and if you do vote by mail or absentee, consider scanning and printing out your blank ballot. Fill out the real ballot and send it in. But take the copy and write “just kidding”, and put it in a brown envelope and drop the envelope in one of the drop boxes.
Now to the races I am following. Clarice Jackson has been a long time advocate for literacy and wants freedom in education. The teachers’ unions fear her. She is running in district 18 which is currently held by Brett Lindstrom. Learn more about Jackson at
https://claricejackson.com/
Also, if you are still not certain, just don’t vote for the man candidate in this race.
Next is Julie Fredrickson running in district 20, currently help by John McCollister, the liberal. Julie has been a long time Constitutional conservative and defends election integrity. Do not be confused by candidates with similar names. Just vote JULIE! You can reach her at Julie4NeUnicameral@gmail.com
Marilyn Asher is a true conservative and supports the Constitution including free speech and gun rights. She has been involved with Nebraskans for Founders'
Values (https://nffv.org). She is running against liberal incumbent Megan Hunt in district 8. You can reach her at masher50@gmail.com
Now for some other races. Walt Peffer is good for Douglas County Assessor because he has the experience. He lists, Nebraska County Assessor Certificate, Nebraska Real Estate License, Omaha Area Board of Realtors, Nebraska Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors See his site at https://votepeffer.com/
The gubernatorial race is quite difficult. Theresa Thibodeau and Brett Lindstrom basically split the Omaha vote which is purple. This leaves Herbster and Pillen to pick up the rest. However, Herbster speaks off the cuff about his values and it is appealing. I suspect he will take the win.
For Congress, I will likely end up supporting Bacon, just not in the primaries. Steve Kuehl gives conservatives a chance to let Bacon know how we feel about the infrastructure votes. His website is https://www.stevekuehl.com/
For Secretary of State, Robert Borer intrigues me. I don’t know if I agree with him completely but his skepticism of the 2020 election is good reason to support him. He will be forceful in demanding transparency. See his site at:

But what of those endorsements from Nebraskans Against Government Overreach? That, my friends, is for another essay.
