Numerous people have asked if I intend to do essays on certain topics. I tend to avoid merely repeating what you hear and read in the local news. Much of what I write is a rebuttal to what is actually in the established media. However, these I thought were worthy of explanation.
Many people are upset about staggeringly high property evaluations from County assessors across the state. This is a problem of basing homes on market rates instead of replacement rates which are more stable and established by insurance companies. With inflation, commodities such as land and houses will go dramatically up in price, just like gold, because these are real things being measured by a devalued currency. In addition, places like Omaha have a substantial housing shortage which is partly because of a slowdown by developers trying to contain costs. The biggest problem with the rising property evaluations is the increase in taxes. To fight this, property owners will need to contact local taxing authorities and demand they lower the tax levies.
The next topic is the Opportunity Scholarships Act and the petition effort against it. Supporters have mounted a counter-campaign to encourage people not to sign. I suspect everyone knows this battle is Omaha Public School District versus the rest of Nebraska. So why am I not making too much comment on it? I am waiting for the blatant anti-Catholic dogma Puritanical screed to unveil itself on the left. Oh, you know the left loves to accuse the Catholic Church of being pro-pederasty and of being a bunch of fish-eating papal preachers. Many of my Protestant and Jewish followers are in the dark about this but this hatred of Catholics is only skin deep among progressives.
Tony Vargas. Farts for climate change? Wait, what am I writing about? Oh, that is right. He is running against Congressman Don Bacon. Advice for Republicans, make a business card saying “Why you should become Republican. We protect kids and families”. On the card, have a website link, and on the website, show how Vargas failed to support the Opportunity Scholarship Act, and supported abortion and mutilating children’s private parts. Next, hand it out to shoppers at Walmart or Megasaver gas stations to those who look ethnically different from you.
Mohammed. Occasionally, you will read a click-bait item claiming Mohammed is now the number one name for boys of someplace, somewhere. This is true but highly misleading. Islam does not provide an abundant number of names compared to Judeo-Christianity and it is a cultural default for many Islam-dominated cultures. Hispanics tend to use Jesus as a name as well. I wish people would
rethink the practicality of their names. When someone mentions your name, people are often stuck saying “Which Mohammed?” as with any commonly used name.
One final take, there are "progressives" opposed to abortion. From Twitter:
Failure of taxpayers to attend budget meetings has a lot to do with high mill levies!
