The election in 2024 will heavily focus on education and the Nebraska School Board. Former Nebraska Senator Adam Morfeld, a hard progressive, is already pushing campaigns with District 1 of the Nebraska School Board by pushing Kristen Christensen. He even provides a link to donate which goes to an Act Blue account. Notice how he attacks Liz Davids as an “extremist” and “conspiracy theorist”.
Apparently, the Nebraska tax credit has stirred up the left-wing education establishment which has petitioned to repeal the credit. Christensen has already stated her support for repeal of the tax credit on her X account.
In addition, she has the support of State Senator Megan Hunt.
The battle will be immense. Those defending the credits have their own campaign, Keep Kids First (https://www.keepkidsfirstnebraska.com/).
But to add to this, there is now a petition to expand abortion in Nebraska (https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/abortion/nebraska-gov-pillen-warns-progressive-ballot-initiative-could-open-door).
The petition aims to expand abortion up to the point of viability which is usually placed at 24 weeks of pregnancy, well beyond when a baby’s first movements are felt at about 18 weeks (https://www.webmd.com/baby/interactive-pregnancy-tool-fetal-development). In addition, after the fifteenth week, abortion is done by dilation and evacuation, known as D & E, which poses a greater risk to the woman involved, and the procedure is barbaric.
I don’t know if the petition will get on the ballot or if voters will approve, but the petition is being used to rally the progressives.
I really hope--and pray--that Nebraskans are thinking through the issues and refusing to sign that petition.
