Sound cold? Sound heartless? Cold facts will do that to you.
Television appeals heavily to emotion. Try listening without watching TV and you will see just how much emotion is conveyed without much information. The news covers the Israeli bombings in the Gaza Strip without any real context.
When the Oslo Agreement for peace came into being, it gave the Gaza strip limited autonomy. Gaza elected Hamas and as totalitarians do, Hamas eliminated political opponents and broke away from the Palestinian Authority of the West Bank.
But more alarming, Hamas's strategy has been to ensure as many Arab civilians as possible would be killed in any combat. Instead of using concrete to build new homes, Hamas built underground tunnels to smuggle in weapons. These are the tunnels Israel has been bombing. Instead of helping Arab civilians, Hamas went on to murder Israeli civilians. There was no effort to protect Arab civilians with tunnels or caves as Britain did during World War 2 when it was bombed by NAZI Germany.
But what of humane treatment such as providing water? If weapons can be smuggled in, most certainly water and fuel can. Fuel? The Israeli Defense Force shows Hamas has plenty of it (https://www.timesofisrael.com/idf-says-gaza-photos-show-half-million-liters-of-fuel-held-by-hamas/) but Hamas won’t use it to keep hospitals open.
Yet, President Joe Biden is sending $100 million in aid for humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza and the West Bank (https://www.politico.com/news/2023/10/18/biden-humanitarian-aid-gaza-west-bank-00122212). How is such assistance to reach the Arabs? How will this assistance be used by Hamas who govern the Gaza strip? Most certainly not in favor of the average civilian. Such assistance will only be used to embolden Hamas. You would think people see the futility of delivering such assistance but apparently not.
I agree completely
Congress is appropriating this money. It's all bundled in the defense funding bill. Congress needs to stop bundling and start looking at individual spending for each item. It would stop funding of Hamas and terrorists, stop funding every stupid project that is attached, keep them busy so they quit violating our rights.
They load these bills up to important legislation and then throw arrows at those opposing as un-American and military hating. Much like Mark Levin does to rand Paul and others.
