Update: They are eating the dogs! Now a song (https://x.com/Vox_Oculi/status/1834296686677737621). Oh, and Trump is apparently wrong. They are not eating the dogs, just cats?
I made a choice of not watching the debate between Trump and Harris. Since it was on ABC and run by leftist moderators, I already suspected it would be a waste of time. Instead, I waited for pundits to provide their evaluations as well as reveal their biases.
Many Trump supporters said Trump “lost” the debate. However, I think they misunderstand the strategy at play. When entering a very biased and restricted debate, best option is to let your opponent speak to the point of exposure. Because Trump is perceived as aggressive, he was unwilling to deliver a hard punchline. He would take his standard defenses, allowing moderators and others to claim he “lost focus”.
I believe the Trump campaign entered this debate with limited goals. The goal was to let Harris speak and let the moderators defend her while attacking Trump. The end result is a view of Harris who has no policies and whose campaign is merely based on hating Trump. In addition, such tactic exposes a Trump-hating media.
Some may doubt this but Harris is not benefiting from the debate, and her lies are being exposed (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2024/09/10/21-kamala-harris-false-claims-hoaxes-that-debate-moderators-did-not-fact-check/).
To add to this, Trump consistently demonstrates he is listening to average people, and anyone who does not see the genius of Trump in doing so simply cannot figure it out.
During the debate, Trump mentioned citizen claims of Haitian immigrants eating ducks and pets. People can dispute whether or not it is actually happening, but it does not matter. The important fact here is Trump has demonstrated he is listening to average people about the problems with immigration. Many political analysts are not picking up on the value of such authentic listening. I was so tempted to pull up videos of Haitians eating cats to prove a point, but I realized, this really was not what was at issue. The question is: what candidate is listening to people like you?
People will argue, but the meme-sphere has sunk in. The meme-sphere is priceless in setting the tone on the mere words of Trump acknowledging the concerns of average people. Harris has no effective rebuttal on this.
Oh, my goodness! My son completely lost his cool over the duck and cat memes! Andrew, I am in SOOOO MUCH TROUBLE... I think you maybe made the right choice?
