Hard to tell what is the head of Omaha City Councilman Pete Festersen on climate change. He certainly has to understand the mess of the issue. However, he is now again pushing for Omaha to have a “climate change” plan (https://www.3newsnow.com/news/investigations/councilmember-festersen-frustrated-over-lack-of-action-on-omaha-climate-plan-calls-for-immediate-funding). No matter what, I am certain the end result is someone somewhere will get a six-figure salary funded by taxpayer dollars.
Civil engineer Barry Butterfield wrote in the Nebraska Examiner outlining the conflict over what to do about supposed man-made climate change (https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2022/08/24/inflation-reduction-act-faces-daunting-challenges/).
First, climate alarmists scream carbon will burn the planet, but when nuclear energy or carbon capture are offered as solutions, they say we cannot use such solutions. In other words, their screaming is more of the “buy-my-EV, solar-panels-and-windmills-or-the-planet- dies” marketing scam. Add Jane Kleeb as head of the Nebraska Democrat Party and the alarm is politicized in a partisan fashion.
Yet, Festersen wants Omaha to dance with these dingbats. Some claim we should at least have a plan to address climate issues. However, this is simply not necessary to the extent of spending more money. After decades of “climate crisis” predictions by climate doomsayers, humans are safer than ever from climate. The climate death rate has decreased by *98%* over the last century (See point 2m https://energytalkingpoints.com/climate-crisis/). This is because humans already use mitigation abilities to address climate issues, such as umbrellas when it rains, and air conditioning when it is hot.
For those who really want to dive into the relevant facts on this debate, I recommend the book, “Fossil Future” by Alex Epstein.
