The organization has been around for some time. Also, I support making sustainability an important aspect of preserving important resources as they claim to do. Recycling, conserving energy, and growing plants are all good things to do.
Yet, Omaha Students for Sustainability is falling for old garbage: man-made climate change theory. Worse, they have the attention of the local news media (https://omaha.com/news/local/article_8280ac63-c80a-4a33-a600-fb6893f37b7a.html and https://www.3newsnow.com/central-omaha/will-climate-action-keep-young-people-in-omaha-this-activist-thinks-so, and https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2025/01/30/lawmaker-pitches-state-climate-office-to-better-respond-to-climate-change/).
A chapter of this movement is at Omaha Central High School, which proves the bogus theory is circulating in public schools (https://www.omahacentralregister.com/5538/news/students-for-sustainability-an-upcoming-club-in-omaha/). And it has been there for years without any objections.
The organization has been targeting local governments to confront “climate change” for some time, and has claimed some success (https://www.3newsnow.com/news/local-news/nebraska-students-demand-action-by-elected-officials-on-growing-climate-crisis). So many media outlets feed the fear-mongering over climate change because there is profit to be made by doing so. Those objecting to the man-made climate change theory have nothing to gain. They merely present the facts for what they are (https://co2coalition.org/facts/). The theory is so tired and old as it dates back to 1824, but it persists to this day (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_climate_change_science).
There are also other disturbing aspects about the theory. Why are Catholics not more skeptical of the theory? I presume if they believe in transubstantiation or guilt-tripping (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guilt_trip) over sins, they will fall for anything. I know it seems mean to target Catholics on this matter, but many have bought the theory without honest and sincere reflection or criticism.
Other problems with the theory emerge. When fossil fuels used by humans are blamed for CO2 (carbon dioxide) increase, it reflects the geocentric theory, which presumed Earth was the center of the now known solar system, when it was not. Copernicus, Kepler, and Galileo put the sun at the center of the solar system. Galileo was punished by the Catholic Church for saying so, but the Church did not relent on this matter until 1992 (https://newsroom.ucla.edu/releases/the-truth-about-galileo-and-his-conflict-with-the-catholic-church). The Church could not imagine humans were at the center. Solid science would dethrone humans as the center of supposed climate change. Yet, “consensus science” which is not actual science will continue to back the theory.
Students need to learn to be skeptics and seek more information. The COVID pandemic was very idiotic, particularly the advocacy of masks. Anyone in a biology class could tell you, a virus is so small, you cannot see it on a classroom microscope, therefore a mask is ineffective. Students should have had more courage to counter the masks. Yet, Trump has. Type in Covid.gov and you will get all the facts at https://www.whitehouse.gov/lab-leak-true-origins-of-covid-19/
Will students learn solid science and why the man-made climate change theory is false? Probably not, for the same reason they did not challenge the lies about COVID, but I will persistent in in debunking the man-made climate change theory.
