Jerry Kratochvil, known as the Street Sweeper, operated the Leavenworth Street political blog for many years (https://leavenworthst.com). For most of the time, he was anonymous and his blog would flood with mostly anonymous comments from people from all over the political sphere. It was the site to got to for politics. Later, he went public and altered it to Wheels Down Politics (https://nebraska.wheelsdownpolitics.com) but the blog basically “died”.
Now, Kratochvil and retired political operative Sam Fischer are doing a podcast called Middle America Politics. You can catch up with them on Spotify and Buzzsprout. See links below (images are clickable):
Buzzsprout apparently does not provide a neat icon like Spotify:

Also, Sam Fisher also has his own podcast Cowboys, Not Eggheads. See link below:
Their first podcast together covers the questionable actions of the Nebraska Republican Party. Other sources are also reporting on this topic (https://americasvoice.news/video/rYnjpiBPzZcNGkW). Yet, there is no way to comment on the podcast or provide much feedback. Apparently, the Leavenworth Street blog is borderline dead. There has only been about one blog post a year since the last election, and no one appears to be commenting on the latest post about the podcast.
This kinda reminds me of the situation of former KFAB radio host Chris Baker where you have a show but no back-up plans. Suddenly, you are out of a job and have to reinvent yourself. Baker has joined up with Outlaw Streamers (https://outlawstreamers.com/) and can also be seen on Rumble (https://rumble.com/c/OutlawStreamers). You lose your base audience and only fans seek you out.
For the Leavenworth St blog, it really was a free-for-all forum and a good source of information as people raised concerns about politics. In the absence of blog postings, the main fans of the site have been dispersed to the winds. It is sad. Maybe the podcast will fill the void but it really does not provide a means for comments and feedback or discussion which I will miss.
