This article is dedicated to Oskar Schindler (https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/oskar-schindler). In trying times, doing the right thing can be quite difficult.
Today, Candace Owens has left the DailyWire over a spat of statements she has made about Israel and Arabs. Owens' stance is basic to Christian thought: all souls matter and should have an opportunity for redemption. This does not sit well with Ben Shapiro and a couple of rabbis who have repeatedly verbally attacked and smeared Owens over months in spite of the fact she supports Israel. Now she is just going way overboard with revisiting all sorts of history, including the Nazis. At the same time, some Zionists and Israelis insist on bringing up the Holocaust and anti-Semitism any time someone talks about Jewish people.
Years ago, when David Cole started to detail the hard evidence of the Holocaust, he came under attack by the Jewish Defense League which tried to kill him (https://books.google.com/books/about/Republican_Party_Animal.html). He has been called a Holocaust denier, which he is not, and has been shunned ever since. This shows how extreme people can go on a topic.
At the same time, the focus on the Holocaust and the Nazi, events over 70 years ago, bog down honest discussion of current events. In fact, there is Godwin’s Law (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law) and the Reductio ad Hitlerum fallacy (https://www.logicallyfallacious.com/logicalfallacies/Reductio-ad-Hitlerum). There is no need to rehash history. Israel is a republic, a government of the people, by the people and for the people, and must not perish from the Earth. I wanted to mention Kristallnacht, when the law, the legal protection of life, liberty and property, was taken away from German citizens by the Nazis. The result was a vast violent attack on German Jewish citizens (https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/kristallnacht). But in doing so, I am merely distracting myself from current events.
Owens does deserve criticism trying to revisit the Nazis on book burning. The book burning was started by the Nazis and was organized by German university students (https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/book-burning).
Also, Owens' attempt to bring up urban sexual pervesities and attribute them merely to Jews is anti-Semetic or leans that way.
Note, we are all humans. About half the human race has penises and the other half has vaginas. There is going to be a whole lot of debauchery among humans. Dare I attempt to list them all? Today, much debauchery is paved over as pervision or sexual abuse or exploitation. You can say the ten year old boy who had sex with their 16 year old babysitter has been sexually abused or exploited, but what do you call it when he says he wants to do it again? He has been debauched. Debauchery is a disgusting problem but people hate accurate approaches to disturbing and disgusting things.
At the same time, on the other end of the discussion, Alan Dershowitz still refuses to leave the Democrat Party over Biden’s support of a cease-fire. Yet, Dershowitz is never accused of being anti-Semtic. Sorry, Dershowitz. All your indecision on this matter, and sitting on the fence is only going to give you a sore ass. Leave the Democrat Party and support Trump! Zionists and Israel supporters should pressure Dershowitz to do so.
Unfortunately, for decades, Israeli and US partisan politics has intermingled too much among educated people (including Jewish people) who have largely been arrogant in embracing idealistic ideas such as a “two-state” solution and gun control instead of focusing on the current realities. Hamas most definitely is the most horrendous murderous, raping, kidnapping, hostage-taking, religious suicide cult ever, yet is empowered by the fantasy of "two-state” ideologies. Dare I say it is morally wrong to give statehood to a gang of murderers? Why do we use the word "Palestinians" when they are Arab Neo-Romans trying to impose a Roman province on the world? Stop saying "Palestinians"! Also, why are any Israeli citizens left unarmed? October 7 would have been a lot different with armed Israeli citizens. Fortunately, some change is on the way (https://www.npr.org/2024/01/10/1224042094/israels-government-is-encouraging-gun-ownership-by-loosening-the-rules). I really wish more Jewish people and Jewish organizations would learn the value of gun ownership. At least there is one Jewish group making this advocacy (https://jpfo.org/).
Also, Jewish communities must challenge excessively lenient immigration policies and illegal immigration. I know, many Jewish people are not engaged politically or are rightfully concerned about humanitarian efforts or merely support immigration merely because Jews have historically been denied immigration. However, ethical considerations aside, msuch policies have enabled many bad things as we now know about UNRWA (https://www.ajc.org/news/what-to-know-about-unrwa-and-its-controversial-role-in-the-israeli-palestinian-conflict) as well as the US-Mexico border problems. Yes, there is much reckoning to do.
Also, to Trump supporters, either all borders matter or they do not. We cannot pick and choose on this matter. Yes, the Founders did not want the US to engage in empire and entangling alliances but their time was when the US was small and weak and empires were strong. Today, the US makes up a very large portion of the world’s economy. Yes, the US military presence can cause lots of problems, but so can its absence. In fact, the enemies of the US are counting on this. When politicians talk about peace, war is often the result (https://www.history.com/news/chamberlain-declares-peace-for-our-time-75-years-ago) so be wary,
Putin has been gobbling up land to recreate the glories of the Soviets (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian-occupied_territories). Doubt me? Check out Transnistria (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transnistria). Sorry, the anti-Ukraine arguments carry no weight with me.
China is planning to take Taiwan (https://www.armed-services.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/aquilino_statement.pdf). Iran is feeding a network of terrorists (https://www.crisisgroup.org/middle-east-north-africa/gulf-and-arabian-peninsula/iran/184-irans-priorities-turbulent-middle-east). All of these put pressure on the US to react. But this is only half the problem.
What entangles the US now is ever increasing Federal expenditures on things which should be left to the States. The Federal government was designed for national defense, not a bunch of social programs. The US Debt Clock (https://www.usdebtclock.org/) images below highlight the problem, yet Congress keeps running the Federal Government on Continuing Resolutions.
The public is left in the dark about much of this. The news media rather trash Trump or a celebrity but refuse to provide any understanding of the impending dangers. Merely the interest of the US debt is competing with US military expenditures at a time when the US should be expanding its navy, air forces and and technology.
Without the power and freedoms of the United States, the world would be full of poverty, despotism, and unleashed brutality and oppression. The US must remain a beacon for the world, not merely a world policeman or a pointless nonplayer, but an advocate for peace, liberty, and humanity.
