Merv Riepe Gets a Shellacking.

As is well known by the pro-life communities in Nebraska, State Senator Merv Riepe torpedoed the heartbeat bill on abortion. Many have taken action against him (https://nebraskaexaminer.com/briefs/nebraska-right-to-life-rescinds-endorsement-of-state-sen-merv-riepe/).
 
Although pro-life legislation did pass, there will likely be a successful petition effort to put expanded abortion on the ballot (https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2023/11/16/nebraska-abortion-rights-amendment-campaign-kicks-off-in-omaha/). The attempt to expand abortion is probably more about organ harvesting instead of defending abortion.

Harvesting of aborted babies is nothing new. Planned Parenthood was forced to admit to this practice (https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/op-eds/planned-parenthood-was-just-forced-to-admit-in-court-to-harvesting-aborted-fetal-parts). There have also been allegations of fetuses being kept alive solely to harvest them (https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2021/aug/25/were-aborted-babies-kept-alive-to-harvest-tissue/).

Some wonder if the intensity of the issue has burned out for some conservatives but it has not. Students For Life Action is proof. They have placed a billboard in Omaha and are going after Riepe (https://www.studentsforlifeaction.org/students-for-life-action-returns-to-nebraska-to-raise-awareness-of-senator-merv-riepes-broken-promises-to-protect-innocent-life-in-a-new-billboard-campaign/). 

They even have a petition out trying to encourage him to resign! See https://act.studentsforlifeaction.com/riepe-resign/ Some people may be new to this debate and wonder what all the commotion is about or assume the issue is resolved.. Realistically, the efforts to expand abortion are about allowing it beyond 15 weeks where a far more radical procedure must be done.
