Update: Kudos to Hal Daub! Name corrected.
For a long time, many people have accused me of being an anarchist, a “libertine” and so forth without any understanding as to what is going on in left-wing circles. This particularly irritates me regarding congressional races and presidential politics but at times as the local level as well.
The Progressives have taken over the Democrat Party and are a force to be reckoned with. In the House of Representatives, they have about 100 members and it is growing (https://progressives.house.gov/caucus-members) and continue to grow (https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/congressional-progressive-caucus-house/). This has pushed into local politics.
Decades ago, there was the Socialist Workers Party and their publication called The Militant. During the Cold War, they were common to come across. But today, they have been replaced with the radicalization of progressive socialist elements. The young voter of today has no idea what the Soviet Union was or what is wrong with Communism and its socialist imitators and is easily captured by socialist rhetoric
Today, the trend has been obvious and resulted in pushback and reactions. Colleen Brennan, a former Omaha City Council member, left the Democrat Party. Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine left the Democrat Party and was re-elected as a Republican.
At the Federal level, People have heard of the House Freedom Caucus and are starting to understand what it will take to remove excessive government. However, the problem persists on the local level as well. This is why the State Freedom Caucus has come into being (https://statefreedomcaucus.org/).
Nebraska has some very good hard-hitting conservatives such as former State Attorney General Doug Peterson and current State Treasurer John Murante. Both of them have made a point of asserting Nebraska into national politics without apology. If more states had officials like Murante and Peterson, the United States would be much better off.
For this reason, I am supporting the State Freedom Caucus (https://statefreedomcaucus.org/). Andy Roth, formerly of Club for Growth, is chair of the group. If you still want to fight the national fight for candidates, go to Club for Growth (https://www.clubforgrowth.org/) and Senate Conservatives Fund (https://www.senateconservatives.com/). There is also the Club for Growth Foundation which helps educate the public on economics (https://clubforgrowthfoundation.org).
The former Attorney Generals' name is Peterson, not Patterson. All the best. Hal.
