The Omaha World Herald reporter Henry J. Cordes is known for being liberal but he got his story right (https://omaha.com/news/state-regional/government-politics/online-video-of-nebraska-sen-deb-fischers-swearing-in-with-kamala-harris-stirs-up-controversy/article_d814ba8e-cc7f-11ef-bfcd-8798954b5706.html).
A video of Senator Fischer’s swearing-in received criticism because of Senator Harris’ aborted handshake to Mr. Fischer, husband of the Senator. Yet the video is missing context. As the second photo shows, he is using a cane and holding a Bible which can be difficult when you are over 70 years old. Harris demonstrates she is simply not good in social situations and was not paying attention to the people approaching her. This is her “stand up Chuck” (https://www.politico.com/blogs/ben-smith/2008/09/an-awkward-moment-in-columbia-011687) moment.
So now you see what the facts actually are, but look at what the Omaha World-Herald choose to publish on January 10, 2025. The Herald is promoting attacks on a frail senior citizen. How low can they go?
Think about this. What do these letters accomplish in civil discourse? Are these just blatant left-wing partisan attacks? What more important letters were not published simply so these attacks on an old man could be published? Sad, very sad!
