I often hate non-profit organizations because they end up doing too much chair-moving instead of providing results. The League of Women Voters is an organization whose best days are behind it.
You can tell when an organization is doing good such as True The Vote (https://www.truethevote.org/). Catherine Engelbrecht and researcher Gregg Phillips are in jail for refusing to release the source of their information which lead to the arrest of Eugene Yu (https://www.truethevote.org/statement-regarding-arrest-konnech-ceo-eugene-yu/) Yu sued True to the Vote over their allegations against him but those allegations appear to have merit. Yu is accused of violating contract laws and was arrested (https://rumble.com/v1oh61n-election-software-ceo-arrested-given-500k-bond-over-massive-data-breach-cas.html).
This comes just after Dinesh D’Souza released the book as a detailed follow-up to his movie 2,000 Mules (https://shop.salemnow.com/product/2000-mules/). I highly recommend you buy the book directly from the publisher at https://www.regnery.com/9781684514465/2000-mules/. (Normally, I would recommend ThriftBooks (https://www.thriftbooks.com/) but it is on back-order there.)
At the same time, the League of Women Voters had a long letter published in the Omaha World-Herald, Public Pulse, on November 11, 2022. I place the text below with my emphasis.
I cannot go too far in condemning the League of Women Voters for their bold ignorant statement. We live in the information age where gathering information is just a keyboard away. These women are lazy as the national news services are. They probably watch MSNBC or listen to NPR or read the Washington Post and never bothered to search further. Of course, the national news “reporters” are blatantly lazy as they engage in “copy and paste” publishing which is why Rush Limbaugh referred to them as the “drive-by media”.
Initiative 432 empowers the Unicameral to implement the terms of voter ID. There will be a discussion of the details, so there is no need for fear-mongering. As for the claims of “no voter fraud”, the claim lacks support. As for the integrity of the election, I have already written, this just is not so.
As for voter impersonation, it is far easier to do without any consequences whatsoever. The voter registration contains voter histories which is open to the public. All I need to do to steal an election is to find out who is not likely to vote, show up at their precinct and vote their vote in my favor. No one will know. I can do it at ten to fifteen precincts and even if I am challenged, I can still vote a provisional ballot! I am smart enough to know, if I can think it, someone else is already doing it.
Hey doubters! It only takes a few people to screw over a candidate. Michael Young was convicted of domestic violence and is behind on child support payments, yet somehow he beat out two women candidates in a plurality of votes. More importantly, the one candidate who had the most experience on education issues, Clarice Jackson, was beaten out by a mere 20 votes! (Image is from VoteDouglasCounty.com, the official Douglas County Election Commission website.) This is partly what discourages people from running for political office.
However, I will admit, voter ID is only a modest solution. There are many necessary reforms particularly if Nebraska is going to allow voting by mail and drop boxes. The Heritage Foundation has made substantial criticism of Nebraska election laws and provided a large number of reforms. I encourage all Nebraskans to contact their state legislatures on these issues (https://www.heritage.org/electionscorecard/pages/states/ne.html). There is still much work to be done.
