Historic Dundee. Old mansion-size houses. Formal Catholic and Protestant Schools A prominent Presbyterian church in a deeply Catholic Parish. Home to Warren Buffet and the KFAB radio station. Underwood Avenue, where streetcars used to pass. You are now in the 68132 ZIP code of the Dundee Neighborhood in Omaha. Nebraska.
The district has moved more and more to the left over the decades resulting in odd contradictions. However, the community has gathered for Dundee Days (https://www.dundeeday.org/schedule.html) which has a parade.
Various schools, businesses, and candidates participated. Senator Megan Hunt was barely recognizable but her signs were in rainbow colors and her supporters were handing out forms to adults. Many of her supporters had pastel hair colors. I did not think to picture her group or grab one of the forms but I am certain we can guest what her agenda was: abortion.
Republicans came out in full force. Tony Conner, of the Omaha Police Union, road a big truck for Aaron Hasson, candidate for Douglas County Sheriff.
They were followed by Don Kleine, candidate for Douglas County Sheriff. Many signs. Oh! Notice the guy with the “Dems 4 Kleine” sign! And kids were everywhere!
Also, Marilyn Asher, who is running against Hunt in District 8 had a large following with a truck carrying a sign. Her followers have multiplied with each public event.
However, the rowdiest, loudest, and most enthusiastic campaign caravan came from the Don Bacon campaign who were chanting with a megaphone guy leading them on! Flags and signs as well. Wow!
And notice the person in the bacon outfit?
But the big prize goes to this great American woman in the Bacon campaign for giving this muppet Bacon supporter a lift through the parade!
Here are some pictures of the crowd as the parade began on Underwood Avenue. The clouds kept the weather cool throughout most of the parade.
Very good turn out for the Dundee Day Parade!
