Update: US Senator Josh Hawley calls for removal of Garland and Wray (https://www.hawley.senate.gov/hawley-biden-has-taken-our-republic-dangerous-waters-garland-must-resign-or-be-impeached)
Omaha resident Brandon Straka of the Walk-Away campaign released this video
I fear many miss what the consequences are of not confronting bad government behavior. In 1992, at Ruby Ridge, the Federal official became involved in a siege, and the result was the killing of Vicki Weaver and her son Sammy Weaver (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ruby_Ridge and https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/every-knee-shall-bow_jess-walter/296484/#edition=2274130&idiq=6953846). They were demonized and the media never paid much attention. Elected officials rarely made criticism of Federal officials. Yet months later, the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas, became objects of Federal officials engaging in a massacre using tanks while blaring out “this is not an assault” (https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/the-ashes-of-waco-an-investigation_dick-j-reavis/295106 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waco_siege).
Again, Branch Davidians were defamed and the controversy over the raid was subdued, but the information continued to come forward and the internet exposed what the Federal Government had done. Many tried to paper over what happened and defamed and attacked critics raising concerns as being conspiracy theorists. Remember what they have done to Alex Jones who has persisted in bringing facts forward?
President George Washington has been attributed with saying “Government is not reason, it is not eloquence,—it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant, and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.” (https://quoteinvestigator.com/2015/05/26/fire-servant/)
The Waco Massacre is hard for people to digest to this day but it casts a long shadow. Timothy McVeigh would take action over Waco and bomb a Federal building at Oklahoma City killing many. In taking responsibility for his actions, he cited US Supreme Court Justice Brandeis, "Our government is the potent, the omnipresent teacher. For good or for ill, it teaches the whole people by its example." Over time, people will realize McVeigh’s passion is not much different from abolitionist John Brown. My fear is the foreshadowing of civil war if we do not come to terms of what brings us into conflict now.
Reader: Oh, Andrew you are being too hyperbolic. There are no comparisons here.
Let me run this pass you again. Brandon Straka has stated three of the January 6 defendants have committed suicide. Dr. Simone Gold of American Frontline Doctors has been sentenced to jail. James O’Keefe of Project Veritas has his home raided by the FBI. Tim Pool’s media complex has been swatted by SWAT teams multiple times. I have mentioned many of these before (https://andrewlsullivan.substack.com/p/us-justice-department-is-out-of-control). Now former President Trump’s residence is brought under an FBI raid under dubious reasoning. Where do you think this ends, particularly if elected Republicans say nothing?
There is a saying on the Nebraska Capitol building, “The Salvation of the state is watchfulness in the citizen.”( https://capitol.nebraska.gov/building/history/team/hartley-burr-alexander/) I think the quote is often misunderstood. The reality is government can do a lot of bad things if people do not keep an eye on it, just like fire.
Democrats passed legislation to “Make the IRS Great Again!” and now the FBI has taken action to “Make Banana Republics Great Again!”. You really only got two choices. You can say “let’s go, Brandon” or “let’s go bananas!” Going bananas will inevitably result in violence.
