I am a bit alarmed over the lack of effort to defend the Nebraska School Scholarship fund, a school choice issue. When it appears on your ballot, the selections are “retain” or “repeal” but no information has been sent out telling people to select “retain”.
Republicans are right to focus on education. They have endorsed these candidates, but the latest mailing did not mention the Scholarship fund issue. Yet the endorsements from Douglas County Republican Party below, I fully encourage:
At the same time, conservatives are not confrontational enough, especially on abortion. If I engaged someone defending abortion, I would listen intently to what they say. Afterwards, I would tell them, I do not think their arguments are based on experience. I would ask them if they have performed an abortion on a 10-week pregnancy?
Have they performed an abortion at 20 weeks old? When they say “no”, I point out their lack of experience, and I suggest they perform abortions and come back with their experiences and justify abortion to me. They can’t.
Public schools aren't going to be helped by repealing scholarships. The money is inconsequential.
What will happen is that poor kids will be trapped into union controlled schools that are failing the kids.
The anti-abortion bill is a small step forward. While many say its not enough, and it isn't, it's what we have. I'm tired of defeat. Republicans have been beaten for 50 years. Every anti-abortion bill either fails by one or doesn't past even the first judicial review. We have a chance to advance the agenda and would be idiots not to.
Spot on, Andrew.
