A lot of my subscribers wanted me to comment as to what happened at the Sarpy Republican Party. Now, Mr. Innis has become chair of Lancaster County Republican Party (https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2023/09/19/lancaster-county-gop-affirms-its-shift-rightward-returning-populist-and-trump-supporter-to-top-job). So with this event, I must comment.
A lot of people got upset with Dan Welch being replaced with Eric Underwood, but let the facts be clear. Who are we focused on? The average 18 to 21-year-old never experienced 9/11 and views the topic in their rearview mirror as something to debate but nothing more, yet they are now eligible to vote. Dan Welch and Pete Ricketts are both from Omaha and the Republican Party wanted to go a different direction with different tactics.
Matt Innis and I have significant disagreements but I support him being in charge of the Lancaster Republican Party. He is a substantial blue-collar worker and military veteran, the very type of person abandoned by the Democrat Party. However, he will have a hard time winning over fiscal conservatives.
Some think a revolution is at hand, but I am not so certain. The changing of generations comes about. The old McCain/Romney Republican party faction failed and has been replaced (or is being replaced) by Trump enthusiasts. To me, this is just boring news, like getting your car washed, or cleaning up spilled milk your child caused. Such changes are inevitable.
However, I want to give a cautionary warning to the Innis factions, do not screw around with economic principles such as Say’s law. If your economic advocacy is idiocy, I will tear you down, as will others with clout to do so.
But the real problem is in Omaha. Brian Kruse of the Douglas County Election Commission is no friend or fan of those demanding election integrity. As a naive fool, he supports drop boxes. So, let us target him! WAIT! Not him, but his drop boxes. Here is my advice to all candidate campaigns: make large-size stickers supporting your candidate, and stick them on the drop boxes! Why not? Who is going to challenge it? Innis Republicans got rid of drop boxes in Lancaster. Now Republicans of Douglas County must do the same, even if it means being more inventive. Heck, create “vote Republican” stickers and start posting them!!
The leadership of the Douglass County Republican party needs to fight against drop boxes and have them all removed.
As a personal friend of Matt for a number of years, his election as chair of Lancaster County GOP is a clear message to those who wanted establishment back. We the people, have had enough of the Omaha guards' controlling and domineering the party. and it was evident Tuesday night. Matt took almost 70% of the vote. As a county chair in CD3, I see this is an opportunity to work with CD1 and Lancaster county to build our state party and engage more people of all backgrounds. Did we reach across the aisle to bring in new people. Absolutely! And we see people engaging who have never been involved before. Patriots, Trump Supporters, and those against the massive malfeasance in our government. We want transparency, accountability and never will allow ONE person to control the party... Good article!
