In Iowa, Nebraska’s neighbor to the east, there are organizers of the Satanic Temple (https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/local/2024/12/14/satanic-temple-of-iowa-holiday-event-canceled-at-state-capitol/76824040007/).
The organization is headquartered in Salem, Massachusetts where the infamous witch trials of the later 17th century took place (https://thesatanictemple.com). While the organization pretends to be a religious one, it is actually a political organization.
Perplexity.AI provides a great summation of the organization (https://www.perplexity.ai/search/the-satanic-templ-J.NhoRZSQn2SSzXDYf7e9Q#2).
The organization was founded by Lucien Greaves and Malcolm Jarry to counter Christians involvement in political life. This means the Satanic Temple engages in a whole host of political activities, not religious.
You can argue with Wiccans and Luciferians (who do not consider Lucifer to be the actual Devil) over their beliefs as there is not this idea of Christians being a menace to society. The Satanic Temple does consider Christianity a threat which is why they embrace Satan as a symbol, and nearly all their activities act against Christianity.
The efforts to separate “Church and state” has gone too far. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph are not just religious symbols but historical figures in ancient scriptures. Moses did advocate for Commandments. The Menorah represents a historical event. Argue if you will about the spirituality and degree of truth, but there is evidence of these things.
The Satanic Temple, no matter what it advocates, is a cross of satire and mockery being used for political activism against Christians. While there are appeals to narcissim, it does not have sacred texts and their rituals and tenants mock fraternal organizations. If you want to defend freedom of speech and religion, you do not need a Satanic Temple. In part, the Satanic Temple appears to appeal to Goth and necrophilia imagery merely for some sense of cultural legitimacy. It fails. For these reasons, the Satanic Temple deserves your imprecatory prayers (Psalms 5, 6, 35, 69, and 109).
