With all the “No Kings” protests across Nebraska and America, now is the time to let the public and elected officials know of your support for Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers often referred to as ICE. Recently, Trump apparently issued a “pause” for the hotel, farming, and restaurant industries (https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/ice-directed-to-pause-immigration-arrests-at-farms-hotels-and-restaurants/ar-AA1GI5LB). I think this is either a tactical maneuver at best or a bad idea at worst. The law must not show favoritism. Justice must be blind.
Congressman Don Bacon, has chimed in with support (https://x.com/RepDonBacon/status/1934054177577320485). Another tactical maneuver?
My advice is for those supporting ICE is to get active now and be polite about it. Contact Trump and let him know you support ICE (https://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/). Contact Congressman Bacon (https://bacon.house.gov/contact/). Also leave a message for Mayor Ewing on the Mayor’s hotline of your support for ICE (https://mayors-office.cityofomaha.org/). Also, call your favorite radio show and write letters to your local publications. Contact the news bureau of your local television station.
For those outside of Omaha or Nebraska, make a point of calling your elected officials and letting them know.
Also, here is an image you can copy and post to social media.
Andrew, thank you for speaking out about this. I've emailed the president. Blessings!
