Whether or not you’re in the Westside School District or not, I highly recommend you show up to this event and take notes or at least enjoy some food. The Westside School District is sensitive about property taxes.
However, I am not able to attend and am skeptical of such forums. This forum will explain where your property taxes go, but it will have no focus as to what is wrong with the current tax system. Yet, I firmly believe many would value hearing what these officials have to say.
Nebraska’s property tax system is overtly complicated between levies and evaluations and as to what taxing authorities have access to such funds. Nebraska’s economy has changed in the digital age. Property taxes are destroying the ability of people to own and maintain homes.
But some believe education needs more funds. If they truly believe this, they can donate to the Westside Foundation which does many good things (https://wcsfoundation66.org/support/special-campaigns-and-projects/).
Anyways, I copied the full email announcement below for your viewing.
