As this article from Matt Johnson’s site became apparent, I noticed I put myself and others into a conflict I did not anticipate (https://rightcheer.com/pancakes-politics/). Yes, that is me and Don Bacon in the photo. But I write this out of concern for those I know who love hearing my take on politics. One of those people is John Sieler, the coordinator of the Pachyderm luncheons. He has mentioned me numerous times at luncheons.
Sieler is the model of Republicanism, in line with what William Penn, a Quaker, fostered and of what Ben Franklin hoped for. Open debate, and plain-spoken to the facts with every word spoken meaningfully with God in mind is what Republicanism is all about. I have done so which is why Sieler mentions me. Yet, apparently, he has received flak for things I have written. If you have a problem with what I say, don't go knocking on Sieler's door, come to me so I can hear you out.
Let me be clear. I hold no position in the Republican Party and do not want to. I am not a candidate. I am merely drawing attention to the facts as I see them, particularly when the media is blinded by their own partisan politics. Sieler understands this and has earned my respect by demonstrating his tolerance as well as my insights.
Yet, division has grown and new people have come in to replace the more experienced party members. My advice to those with experience, you have an obligation to share your experience with these new members. An organization can be destroyed with the loss of institutional knowledge and you need to prevent this from happening. Set your differences aside and learn to inform others of the ways you did things.
As to the rest of the Republicans, you need to start contacting Republican candidates such as Don Bacon and tell them to stop with the tit-for-tat campaigning against other Republicans and conservatives as such attacks are only hurting down-ballot candidates. Put the primaries in the past and move on or create more problems you will. With persistent conflict, Dan Frei could end up running as an independent candidate which would make this election cycle dicey. If he does, I will support Frei because he has faith for a better path.
In addition, many Republicans still have not figured out how important Evangelicals have become in these elections. When COVID hit, many faithful people went up to their Churches, temples, or mosques only to find out it was closed. Many would ponder the book of Psalm 23:4-6, (King James Version) “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Yet, fear ruled, and the First Amendment right to peacefully assemble was abandoned. To many people of faith, including myself, this closing of houses of worship was an act of atheism oppression with no respect for how faith helps people contemplate their lifestyle, death, and the life after. No person of faith will ever be gullible enough to trust the words of government and medical authorities at face value for this generation and the next. Change has arrived.
Unless all sides come together in humility, and with the sense of duty, we will give the election away. Vargas won’t even have to campaign. I do believe that bacon needs to take the first step though.
Really great. Sadly, the very experienced party members have left the DCRP and created their own party.
