Many of the universities and colleges in the United States are bathed in leftist ideologies. This is well known but what stuns me is how so many academics find themselves flat-out buying into obvious false narratives and flat-out fantasizing about a world which simply does not exist and grossly ignoring facts to the contrary. They take a five-minute read of the national legacy news media and think they have the truth but it is all conceit.
This interview of Creighton University professor Dr. George "Guy" McHendry shows he simply has no understanding as to what has transpired over the last 20 years in politics or how communities change
He cites the Arsarco lead plant as environmental racism. Yet, the factory was founded well over 100 hundred years ago in 1889 before Omaha had 100,000 people and Omaha had not reached out to 50th Street. The talk of environmental racism is largely nonsense unless you consider redlining. Creighton is steep though in hitting on this topic with this site https://steppingintothemap.com/inequalities/home The fact is Arsaco impacted all of Omaha but Omaha would grow beyond where Arasaco resided. (He even casts gun owners as racists, ignoring the fact the 14th Amendment was intended to arm Black men https://guncite.com/journals/senhal14.html).
But even to mention this, shows you just how much the left has lost its collective mind. With the end of the Cold War and the falling apart of the Soviet Union, the United States' political system came under a slow realignment as did the United Nations. In 1988, the International Panel on Climate Change was created (https://www.ipcc.ch/about/). By the year 2,000 Presidential election, Al Gore was talking about an “Inconvenient Truth” (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0497116/). Conservation groups were overtaken by extremists more interested in halting the progress of the human race because of “climate change”. A conflict between Greens and blue-collar workers was building.
By the 2,008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama entered the scene and he and his opponent John McCain
were pushing nearly the same climate agenda nonsense. On one level, Obama helped many Black Americans realize the possibilities in front of them and to take advantage of opportunities but on another level, he fostered a bitter division in American politics such as "guns and religion" (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/apr/14/barackobama.uselections2008) which exists to this day. Blue-collar workers took notice.
McHendry buys into the Obama birther issue as coming from the right but it came from the Hillary Clinton campaign and they made a point of making certain it did not tie back directly to Hillary. Sorry, but this birther thing simply did not start with Trump (https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/aug/22/fact-checking-media-yes-clinton-machine-did-start-/) Democrats try very hard to distance themselves from this fact because of the fear losing the Black vote.
At the same time, disaster was fomenting in the Republican Party as a slew of candidates were taken down by media exposure, resulting in Mitt Romeny being nominated and later losing to Obama in the 2012 Presidential election. President Obama would go on to cancel the Keystone pipeline (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/nov/06/obama-rejects-keystone-xl-pipeline), which amounted to kicking sand in the face of blue-collar workers. Thus, the Greens versus the Blues.
By the time Hillary Clinton ran in 2016 and knocked out Bernie Sanders, blue-collar workers saw the disfranchisement, and with Trump, they found a hero while Hillary denounced them as “deplorables” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basket_of_deplorables). Many leftists will point to Trump’s anti-immigration stance as racist but Trump took those ideas from Barbara Jordan, a powerful Democrat during the 1990s who would support Perot’s Reform Party (https://cis.org/Report/Remembering-Barbara-Jordan-and-Her-Immigration-Legacy).
President Biden and the Democrats pushed the New Green Deal (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_New_Deal) and now he pushes “climate reparations” for third-world countries which may include China (https://freebeacon.com/biden-administration/biden-agrees-to-pay-climate-reparations-and-china-the-worlds-top-carbon-emitter-could-profit/) And, Biden defamed Republicans as “MAGA Republicans” (https://thehill.com/homenews/3733190-white-house-adviser-says-painting-maga-republicans-as-extremists-was-effective-strategy/)
People are catching up to the cacophony of the left but these leftist professors present a challenge as they are merely dogmatists engaged in hustles over race and climate. I suggest reading: Black Rednecks and White Liberals by Thomas Sowell and you can see how the blue-collar class, which includes Black people, has to depart from the left-wing extremists. The Greens are a threat to the working class. Where there is a discussion of supposed man-made climate change, there is much to dispute as Alex Epstein shows (https://alexepstein.substack.com/p/talking-points-for-the-holiday-season). So share about and talk.
