Government is Asking

Casually reading my news feed, I heard about the We Make Omaha group (https://www.3newsnow.com/news/local-news/omaha-residents-help-shape-citys-future-through-district-dialogues).

Since the news media does not provide a link, I had to go hunt it down. Apparently, the effort is about (https://wemake.omaha.gov/about/) : “A comprehensive plan is a city’s vision for the next 20 years. It decides a city’s preferred approach to several key areas, like land use, economic development, mobility, and housing. It is an integral part of decision-making to guide Omaha’s growth and development in the long-term.“

Apparently, this is driven by the Omaha Planning Department (a clandestine organization?) which is convinced Omaha is running out of space in Douglas County such as Omaha by Design (https://wemake.omaha.gov/2025/05/14/achallengeweface-limits-of-growth/). Yet, anyone in West Omaha can take a short bike ride and be stuck in a vast cornfield. At the same time, the City of Omaha has actually lost population while the surrounding metropolitation has grown.

I noticed this topic did not come up in any of my non-liberal sources which means the users of such site are going to skew to the left. Yet, I advise you to sign up! This will be difficult for many because there are those who will not abandon cherish beliefs and prejudices about Omaha.
