This morning, I received an email from the David Horowitz’s Freedom Center saying "Goodbye to Candace Owens". This comes after Ben Shapiro took issue with Owens regarding the conflict between Hamas and Israel.
Both Jewish American men have a sizable wealth of knowledge of Israel. But when discussing and listening to others, their criticism can be abrasive and harsh because they end up classifying the ignorant merely as anti-Semites. This is not fair. One of the problems of well-educated people is they are more interested in pontificating instead of listening and are more willing to make presumptions instead of looking at more details as they assume they already have the information they need to make a judgment.
All three individuals come from very different backgrounds, work at completely different locations, and are engaged in different projects with different audiences. The Freedom Center has been attacking campus progressives for a long time. Ben Shapiro follows contemporary issues and politics. Candace Owens has engaged in cultural issues including race. I am a fan of all three and paid money to their organizations.
Because of October 7th, right now, many people are going through a reckoning of a lifetime, particularly activists: as once allies turn into creepy strangers and once strangers become new friends. The shift is profound and is like Emperor Palpetine’s execution of Order 66 in Star Wars Revenge of the Sith.
Many Jewish organizations and Jewish people over the years have tried to frame conservatives as anti-Semites largely because of their own liberal biases. The opposite is true. Conservatives expose the anti-Semites through freedom of speech. Alex Jones gave us an unvarnished Kanye West. Former Trump lawyer Robert Barnes exposed anti-Semite Nick Fuentes for what he is. Simple tactic: know the real anti-Semites and let them expose themselves. Now liberal Jews and their organizations have to reconcile with what has happened after October 7th as much of the left, particularly college campuses, are openly supportive of Hamas.
In the email, now online (https://www.frontpagemag.com/goodbye-candace/), the Freedom Center references Candace Owens X account and other sayings and tries to draw anti-Semitism from her comments but this requires a bit of tea-leaf reading and presumptions. She is confronting anti-Semites and trying to address the claims they make or ferret out more details. Anti-semitism is easy to find among Black Americans and many are fans of Owens's show. She is going to have to at least listen to them and address their claims.
Owens made comments about how she felt when visiting the Muslim quarter of Jerusalem. She was not stating facts, just her feelings and impressions. But her comments were taken as accusing Israel of being an apartheid state, a very loaded term indeed. How about just explaining why Jerusalem is divided into quarters? Is this too much to ask?
The Freedom Center also took issue with Owens interviewing Andrew Tate. How could she, as a woman, not interview him? He is clearly sexist, charged with human trafficking, and more, yet he still captures the attention of many males. Why? You won’t know unless someone interviews him.
I cannot help but think this attack on Owens is all about envy. Owens can ask questions to the degree others cannot as she did with the George Floyd incident. She listens to what people say and expands upon them. This is what makes her show interesting.
The real problem rests with the Daily Wire and Jeremy Boreing the CEO. Why does he not have Shapiro and Owens have a frank discussion about October 7th and what happened since? This is not difficult to do in the internet age and it would really clear up a lot of concerns.
The Freedom Center email stated, “We are in a civilizational war and Candace is either on the sidelines or actively supporting the crusade against the West.” Oh please! This is a super hyperbolic and unhinged statement. The Freedom Center is actually taking issue with Owens floating about isolationist ideas which Trump encouraged. Shapiro has already stated he prefers DeSantis to Trump which makes him sound like a poor advocate for Israel. Is he now compensating for that? Is this all just about hating Trump?
I say fund Ukraine and Israel but stop the aid to Iran and Hamas. 30 Americans died on October 7th and the Biden Administration contributed to it by funding the UNRWA, a UN organization which gave money to Hamas, the king of terrorists (https://nypost.com/2023/10/10/biden-admin-funneled-730-million-to-un-group-despite-its-personnel-calling-for-violence-against-jews/).
If Horowitz and Shapiro want something to trash, smash the Oslo Agreement and the overtly Western idealism of a “Two State” solution. Sorry, but people who elect mass murderers to government don’t deserve a state. They deserve administrative occupation and the Britsh were always the best at this. End of story. To the Israel Defense Forces, take a cue from Union General Sherman and his March to the Sea. Or perhaps President Lincoln’s ending of the Dakota War where hundreds of civilians were murdered: 38 Dakota Indians were executed by Lincoln. Seriously, where are the Nuremberg Trials for the murders of October 7th?
The ball is in your court.
Kanye West isn't an Anti-Semite--he was the victim of a Jewish Hollywood promoter who threatened to throw him back into a mental health institution AGAIN and deny him all access to his own children. Kanye was understandably quite outraged that the guy had already succeeded in having him involuntarily committed and forced to take psychiatric meds the first time around.
That he brought that monster's race into it is regrettable, but then--Kanye seems to have thought that a huge part of the reason why he became this man's victim was because of his own race.
Such is the state of the world that we're living in now. It's nasty and evil, and broken. And it always has been, but as Americans, we at least aspired to be be better, to do better.
And yet, even as Americans, we are capable of being sick, twisted, evil little shits totally beyond redemption apart from the grace of God.
As for Candace, yes--she is absolutely, 100% determined to have those dialogs. Poor Ben! It's never fun being put in the hot seat the way Jewish people have been lately, but--he's got such myopia related to his own race and the issues that all of the less-than-perfect people who share his ethnicity and religion are creating for themselves, including him. If he tries to stop her, he's only going to succeed in kneecapping himself. I feel a certain sympathy for him, but I really do appreciate Candace's efforts, and--that tempers my sympathy.
