Nebraska loves Ukraine and wants to defend it. So do many others. Well, they can donate to Ukraine directly at https://u24.gov.ua/ Hey, if Irish-Americans can fund the IRA, why not Nebraska fund the Ukraine effort? But back to Trump.
Right now, Trump’s foreign policy lacks clarity and people are freaking out. But Trump knows what needs to be done. However, what he needs to do is outline his thoughts on foreign relations and the policies which follow.
First, Trump is following the real power of each country and their contribution to the world in terms of GDP. This is why Trump is very worried about Communist China. It is why he went to North Korea and Japan. It is why the India prime minister met Trump at the White House. Trump is the man for the Orient. (Notice how small Russia is in GDP in graphic below.)
Second, Russia is not powerful and Ukraine can be defended by Europe. Russia has disturbed a nest of wasps by entering Ukraine. But to Trump this is a distraction to US interests. Trump is playing the role of a bad guy to get Europe to stand up, and it is working. Yes, he wants peace, but peace is idealism. This war is a war of attrition, which Europe will fund with passion, particularly if Trump keeps on demanding peace.
Third, tariffs worry farmers across the country. They understand in part what Trump is doing, but it is not clear what the outcome will be. For Nebraska, this means we need to have a much more forceful effort to market to South America and the Orient. Canada and Mexico are angry with Trump and are trying to address his concerns, but I suspect Trump likes the revenues from such tariffs. The end result is many consumer products will become either expensive or unavailable. At the same time, Mexico and Canada markets for US products are likely to shrink some.
Fourth, Greenland, Gaza, Panama Canal, and Gulf of America are avenues to reshaping the image of the United States. Trump is countering China by acting the same way as China. Since China wants Taiwan, Trump wants Greenland and can purchase it. China has a deal on the Panama Canal, and Trump has countered it. China wants to dominate the South China Sea, and Trump counters with the Gulf of America. In everything Trump does, China is at least in the background of his thoughts when not at the forefront.
Fifth, Gaza development is good for the people of Gaza. Trump’s proposal flips the whole focus of the Middle East upside down. Suddenly, Arab Nations have to ask: what good have they done for Gaza? Nothing. Futile efforts of “Two-State Solution” and other fanatical ideas have reigned for far too long with the only actions being war and false starts of peace. Turning Gaza into a Monaco has realistic appeal.
Sixth, rare earth metals are important to technological development. This is why Trump keeps bringing it up in discussions. It is why he wants to buy Greenland to counter China. It is why he wanted Ukraine to accept a peace deal. In the shadow of all this is Taiwan, a huge producer of semiconductors.
I hope this helps people when they are listening/reading information in the media. I did not post many links here because most articles only contain hints as to what Trump is actually trying to accomplish.
I care about the Ukrainian people, but--I don't want to send any money to a corrupt CIA puppet dictator, and I most especially DON'T want my tax dollars going to him.
He's already bought high-priced mansions in Egypt and the U.K. He's squirrelling away millions meant for defending Ukraine while barring Ukrainian men of military age from leaving the country and forcing them to the front. And he hasn't held an election since the war started.
He's also been engaging in religious persecution.
As for Trump, his foreign policy is pretty simple and can be explained pretty quickly:
Does it benefit the United States? If the answer is yes, then he's going after it. If the answer is no, then he's going to oppose it and work to put a stop to it. And he'll use all the tools he has available to achieve his desired results including stampeding the Democrats and RINOs toward (or away from) whatever he needs them to stampede around.
Actually, that last bit is pretty funny. I'm enjoying watching it...
