As I write this, there is a blizzard taking place but the ground is warm and the temperature is just slightly below freezing. The roads are slush but the driving is not too bad but schools have closes and moved to remote learning. At the same time, businesses are excusing absences for on-site employees and directing digital work to remote employees. But this presumes the power and internet companies care about reliability and connectivity.
Power is important but you can see right now (taken during blizzard from https://ww3.oppd.com/power-outage-map/) the Omaha area has lots of power outages, impacting over 52,000 households in Douglas County alone. The Omaha Public Power District has over 83,000 households overall to restore power.
Clean the streets or send people home, what difference does it matter if the power and internet are out? Forget the idiotic man-made climate change theory. How do we adapt to this situation?

OPPD has gone from world class power producer - Ft Calhoun was built in the 70s. I actually went through it as they had open public tours before firing it up. To 3rd world jalopy energy producer with old tech wind and inefficient solar. They are spending money on things that do not work long term for stable production or stable prices.
To stop these major outages they MUST get serious about trees in and near power lines. Yes this storm with ice and wind took poles out in places with no trees but if you look at that map these are area with trees in lines. Their should be a 20 foot right of way around lines, NO TREES!!! After that trim them at such an angle even if they fall they do not touch line. Asplundh has this scam with many power cos that trees are barely clipped. They came here 2 years ago I told them to cut all trees could fall into line to the ground. I stead they spent 4 days micro triming. 4 days they could have cut every tree on my place instead they had a pile of b r ush that would easily fit in a pu box. If the land owner does not want such work done then requir multi million bond or insurance to cover damages to infrastructure and those affected by their trees.
They can use a BIG shot of common sense on that board.
