OPPD has gone from world class power producer - Ft Calhoun was built in the 70s. I actually went through it as they had open public tours before firing it up. To 3rd world jalopy energy producer with old tech wind and inefficient solar. They are spending money on things that do not work long term for stable production or stable prices.

To stop these major outages they MUST get serious about trees in and near power lines. Yes this storm with ice and wind took poles out in places with no trees but if you look at that map these are area with trees in lines. Their should be a 20 foot right of way around lines, NO TREES!!! After that trim them at such an angle even if they fall they do not touch line. Asplundh has this scam with many power cos that trees are barely clipped. They came here 2 years ago I told them to cut all trees could fall into line to the ground. I stead they spent 4 days micro triming. 4 days they could have cut every tree on my place instead they had a pile of b r ush that would easily fit in a pu box. If the land owner does not want such work done then requir multi million bond or insurance to cover damages to infrastructure and those affected by their trees.

They do that here in Lincoln, too. It's ridiculous. There is no need to have super-tall trees growing up and around the power lines anyway. If it's a big tree (elm, maple, cottonwood, etc), take it out. If it's a smaller tree (crabapple or smaller), then it can stay as long as it's properly trimmed.

They can use a BIG shot of common sense on that board.

Sounds like you could certainly assemble a good political case statement and rationale backing your candidacy . What’s the slogan for 30 second ads? Your readers cabvet your ideas and also be the source of creative suggestions. Is this an election that usually has much controversy and/or many challengers or is it dominated by whoever the parties nominate? Perhaps surprisingly. , despite my intense intense Inm[olitics a I am not knowledgeable concerning Omaha politics. 🙂🙂
